I'll include a note in the post about making a backup first, sorry about that!

Go to the website for your instance, there should be a create community button at the top

Other tips:

After creating the community, set a title and add a basic description to the sidebar. In your case, you could include a link to Wikipedia or something about the artist. You can also add rules specific to your community.

It's up to you if you add a banner and icon, but I've found that an icon can help the community be recognizable.

Finally add a post or two that help people see what kind of content you had in mind, and promote it on [email protected], [email protected] and other similar places.

Then day to day you should continue posting content until the community gets rolling on its own, or hold regular discussion threads (ex. New albums and announcements)

I love [email protected]

There are a few other animal communities too, like [email protected]

Very cool! Any thoughts on getting this on fdroid?

You could also post this on [email protected] and other places

Some thoughts so far:

  • it might help to be able to import multireddits
  • the subscribe button feels a bit hidden

Otherwise really cool :)

You may have posted this to the wrong thread :)

It is a good question, I had the same when I first heard about it.

I think lots of people keep both installed:

  • the default one is good for managing server related things
  • this one is good for daily use, especially for any other users you might have

What I liked:

  • feels much faster and smoother
  • UI is nice and clean
  • download manager works nicely, as another user mentioned. You don't need to open a separate app to play the files

That might be my bad, I saw an update notification and it may have been Droid-ify.

I'll update the title just in case

It's better to save up and buy good quality versions of the things that you need.

  • buying cheap and questionable products on Amazon = bad
  • buying cheap and questionable products on Temu = bad

Sometimes it's inevitable for someone who absolutely needs an item and doesn't have any alternatives in their price range, but that's not the case for a lot of people who buy these things.

A lot of online marketplaces can carry low quality products, with questionable materials and supply chains. What I don't like is how some marketplaces make their whole brand around filling your home with cheap low quality stuff

Shop like a billionaire

There might also be an exception for buying parts and components. I don't know enough about that area

I think if DMCAs are abused, it should limit the company's ability to file one in the future.

and if not... regular people could do the same

I use Firefox mobile day to day and keep both Mull and Brave installed. Unfortunately right now Brave is recommended on mobile for privacy:

Firefox (Gecko)-based browsers on Android lack site isolation,1 a powerful security feature that protects against a malicious site performing a Spectre-like attack to gain access to the memory of another website you have open.2 Chromium-based browsers like Brave will provide more robust protection against malicious websites.

Hope to switch back to Firefox & Mull only once that's fixed

Mr Krupski said he had found evidence in company data which suggested that requirements relating to the safe operation of vehicles that had a certain level of autonomous or assistive-driving technology had not been followed.

He added that even Tesla employees had spoken to him about vehicles randomly braking in response to non-existent obstacles - known as "phantom braking". This also came up in the data he obtained around customer complaints.

Mr Krupski said he had felt compelled to share what he had found with data protection authorities.

The US Department of Justice have been investigating Tesla over its claims relating to its assisted driving features since January. Tesla has also faced similar probes and questions from agencies including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about its autopilot system.

German newspaper Handelsblatt published the "Tesla Files" after Mr Krupski shared 100GB of internal data he discovered.

The data protection authority in the Netherlands, where Tesla's European headquarters are based, confirmed to the BBC it had been notified of the data breach and was looking into the claim.

I linked the discussion because I didn't know enough about the content

EDIT:

So according to this thread, this is a Google related change and not Nvidia?

In which case, similar to the banner issue from a previous update, you can get a different launcher (see comments for FLauncher) to avoid it

ChatGPT is down, the new CEO is threatening to quit, and the majority of employees are doing the same... so I decided to look up some alternatives

The name Anthropic came up a few times, but I'm not familiar with them. I've seen Claude mentioned in the past

Anthropic PBC is an American artificial intelligence (AI) startup company, founded by former members of OpenAI.[3][4] Anthropic develops general AI systems and large language models.[5] It is a public-benefit corporation, and has been connected to the effective altruism movement.

As of July 2023, Anthropic had raised US$1.5 billion in funding. In September, Amazon announced an investment of up to US$4 billion, followed by a $2 billion commitment from Google the next month https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropic

So are they more ethical / committed to AI safety, or more of the same? Does the product compare well to ChatGPT?

Sometimes I want to get updates on a news story, and it's small or local so the coverage is sparse. I'd like to get an alert when a new news story or social media post is published.

I think google has something like this. A more private or self hosted one would be nice

It's getting cold and so I'm fumbling with my phone and other devices.

I like the idea of a large screen on my forearm, but I'm not sure how it would work. Maybe it would be cool?

I see some company tried in 2014 and probably didn't get anywhere (see Arubixs Portal), and there was that infamous Kickstarter too
