It would be cool if this one could get the "recommended" status from Firefox. Would get more installs that way

Yea what do they think will happen, someone will go "you know what maybe I don't have a good reason to close this"

This user seems to have a few clickbaity misleading posts in this community

Yea a lot of this advice "don't use anything from Google/Microsoft/Facebook/amazon" or "avoid social media" is just going to tell newcomers that privacy isn't for them

Instead go in order

  • secure private messaging since that's where a lot of your personal private info is going (use Signal)
  • switch to Firefox over chrome, it'll do all the same things
  • use bitwarden (or keepass, but that one is a bit more technical) to manage your passwords, and generate random passwords for things you can reset easily

All of these are easy, don't have much of a learning curve, and will give them significant gains privacy wise. Also I'm betting they will continue to learn and do more stuff after that.

Right? I got half way through it before realizing I don't actually have a use for it right now. I love the detail and organization

I feel like it's a different format and use case?

Pixelfed feels more like Instagram, which is with real profiles with names attached sharing photo updates about their lives with friends and family

Tumblr feels like it's more for niche communities and semi-anonymous posting. Although I personally haven't used it as much so I might be off there

The wording and the dark pattern on this screen should be violating the rules already. They very clearly want people to stay on the free plan, and likely aren't even going to stop tracking users?

Maybe they just want to show how it "failed" and make a case that people don't care

Lmao completely forgot about that

Someone clarified replying to my comment on another post that it's not supposed to be recording 24/7 (although details on activation are fuzzy).

That being said, if a friend starts wearing this around then I'm cutting them out of my life.

It's a big hell no
