Also Disney once told a family no multiple times regarding putting Spider-Man on their dead child’s tombstone.

This is one of those situations where it's better to ask forgiveness than permission. Even the most cold-hearted corporate ghoul is going to understand the cost/benefit of going after that family isn't remotely worth it.

Yeah, the lawyers are going to say "no". But even if they're stupid enough to sue: some suit that isn't a moron is going to tell them to drop it during the ensuing PR nightmare, and the family will be swimming in donations.

I'm pretty confident in saying the majority of users here don't like meta either -- the userbase on lemmy is predominantly people trying to avoid corporate social media.

ByteDance and Meta both privacy nightmares, it's just a question of what fucked up things they doing with the data.

Every single one of my "internet facing" devices is blocked from accessing the internet at the router. If I want to access them they either get added to my HomeAssistant instance or another computer that's only accessible from the outside through my VPN.

All of the convenience with the privacy concerns practically eliminated. It costs $6 a month in hosting for the VPS I set the wireguard server up on.

If it weren't so difficult and require so much effort, I'd rather clicking the link cause the server to switch to serving up poisoned data -- stuff that will ruin a LLM.

Some of the modern recreations of neanderthals look like people I've seen in bars.

On a cold night after a few handfuls of fermented berries ... I probably would too.

Or genetic defects.

"Something about that person is extremely off-putting. I do believe I'm not going have sex with them."

Even "good quality" stainless steel can easily rust, as anyone who's owned quality kitchen knives will tell you. Some stainless alloys are more resistant than others -- but exposed to the right conditions they all corrode.

There are designs for face paint specifically to defeat facial recognition.

I deleted my reddit account and joined lemmy during the subreddit blackout, but there's still a few authors I follow on reddit. Most I've followed to other sites, and just recently one was suspended for what sounds like a fuck up on reddit's end.

Reddit lost most of their quality content creators and I can't see the few remaining staying long term.

Next you're going to tell me that that not only does humanity already have trains that can do 200mph (320 km/h): but they're more reliable, safer, cheaper to build/operate, and can can carry a ton of people per trip.

Psh, like that would ever work.
