Maybe. My guess is they just didn't want to go through the trouble, since it would have been a long war.

Settling out of court is not setting a legal precedent

Fully agree. Why is renting a movie the same cost as a month of some random subscription service? Then you also get a copy you can only watch for like 24 hours. If you "buy" you still dont get access to the file, just some digital copy that can be taken away at any point.

Good service should result in my continued patronage. This means the business is succesful and the employees deserve a raise. This is how it works for everyone else...

Why we've decided people delivering food to you should get a tip is beyond me. I don't tip my mechanic, grocery store worker or the cleaner at the office. They all deliver a direct service to you as well, but they shouldn't get a tip?

Could use https://github.com/trapexit/mergerfs if you dont care about losing data. My 3 disks basically show up as one.

It's so damn great to just be able to power on the TV and instantly start watching what I want.

No navigating through a mess of a menu. No pre roll ads. No "recommended" content all over my stuff. No thinking of which service has what. It's also a bit faster since I can stream locally.

I actually went out and got Chromecasts + a VPN to my network. Now I just threw it out altogether and set up jellyfin instead.
