All software has issued, such is the nature of software. I always say if you selfhost, at least follow some security related websites to keep up to date about these things :)

Lately i feel that every update Microsoft relases breaks something, its getting really anoying :(
But alas! What can we do. Thankfully im a linux user so at the end of my work day i go home and relax :)
Look at Kodi or Jellyfin. For kodi there's also libreelec (or openelec, not completely sure) so you dont have to tinker with the underlying OS much.
