I think over-selling the "AI" with "reasoning/thinking" language becomes fraudulent and encourages inappropriate/dangerous applications.

in this case it would be the british government that already has my passport and driver license photos stored digitally so this would just be to validate a digital login as a real person

i think it should be anonymized as well so that no PII is associated with your online ids even though they are verified
by embracing methods of verifying that a user is a real person
edit: to add this example
i still scroll through both but i engage with way more posts on Lemmy now almost everyday
so i actually find the content on Lemmy more interesting which is slightly unexpected. i thought it would end up the same
