I think you're misunderstanding it. Do what you do, you're going to break something anyways just don't half-ass it. Just like there's a graveyard behind every doctor, there's a pile of mistakes behind every sysadmin.

At this point trying to get around Windows would be inconvenient. The only "convenience" you're sacrificing is that you're probably been trained from kid to use Windows, and many things just work different on Linux.

Yes. It's not really Proton's fault, but definitely unattractive to a user/customer

You can't create proton account anonymously very easily. If attempting to create account using for, you're prompted to enter phone number or existing email iirc.

Edit: just tested, existing email is needed. This already tells they do not want people to create accounts in a privacy respecting way even if it's somewhat trivial to bypass if you know how

I think you're misunderstanding their message. To me it reads that places where there's low speed limits, are also places where you need to pay a lot of attention on the street and surroundings and wouldn't want to drive faster anyways
