Last time I went to Magic Kingdom in Disney world, the park was IMO legitimately too full of people. Seemed like every single space was wall to wall people and every ride, even the shitty ones was like a 3 hour wait. And it wasn't even a holiday or a peak season time. Just a miserable experience. Feels like they just need a daily cap or something on the number of visitors because there's definitely a point where it gets too full to be worth it for anyone.

Yep the whole Internet feels like a dying mall. There are still some places I go for specific needs, but I'd say my casual browsing of any kind just keeps getting smaller.
Sat down to pee so he wouldn't have to touch it
Ironically only the passwords I'm forced to change frequently (i.e. my work password) are something simple and easy to type. All of my personal passwords are like 40 characters of gibberish my password manager invented and the password to that is similar to the xkcd batteryhorsestaple and is changed from time to time as well.
But my work doesn't allow password managers, so I just have a rolling window of like 12 passwords since that's their history limit.
Why is Firefox a 'platform'? I'm assuming chromium is for chromeOS devices, but I don't know of any device that just runs Firefox.
Ya know, I'm really beginning to think that we live in the age where there is no longer a 'customer' anymore. At least not a human one. When even car companies are selling your data to advertisers now, I think the only 'customers' left are ad networks.
Except even advertisers don't care either, because probably their whole company is just a shell game with money that rich people play against other rich people trying to see who will be the last one holding the stocks when the company goes under from incessant short term decision making.
Also training data works on consistency. It's why the art AIs struggled with hands so long. They might have all the pieces, but it takes skill to take similar-ish, but logically distinct things and put them together in a way that doesn't trip human brains up with uncanny valley.
Most of the right wing pundits are experts at riding the line of not saying something when they should or twisting and high jacking opponents views points. I think the AI result of that sort of training data is going to be very obvious gibberish because the AI can't parse the specific structure and nuances of political non-debate. It will get close, like they did with fingers and not understand why the 6th finger (or extra right wing argument) isn't right in this context.
Basically any movement against bad people who happen to be part of a minority seems to get hijacked by bigoted people eventually.
In theory, I'm fine with some ads. Useful ads in places where it makes sense (like shopping). Small, unobtrusive ads that fill up otherwise empty space. But ads are like capitalism and cancer. They just continue to grow and grow and get worse and worse until they've utterly destroyed the thing they were meant to support. If you let them in, it's only a matter of time until they completely take over. No one has managed to do 'reasonable ads' for any great length of time.
It's just one of those things where in theory it sounds workable, but in practice it's highly destructive and corrosive towards everything.
Didn't realize lemmy was popular enough to attract these sorts of trolls yet
I really don't understand how people who are reasonably devout followers of different religions ever end up together. Almost all of them make it against the rules or at least extremely problematic. Why would you marry someone that your religion says is going to hell because they don't believe what you do? And if you do it anyway, why would you stay in that religion? Makes no sense.
Honestly feels like a scam for rich people. Spez just has to convince some suckers that Reddit would be profitable as he cashes out. Then they're left with a dead platform as they kill it with ads and astroturfing.
This is honestly what I feel like most businesses are these days, just scams to convince other rich people to invest, so they can cash out early on. Basically the same stuff all the crypto currencies were doing.
