i've learned that if you grease yourself up enough (VERY important that you're greasy enough); you can just canon ball your way through. lol

yes and i've leveraged it along w the stereotype of the entitled american tourist (thanks to my very strong american accent) to get out of most of those episodes.

i barely integrate now as an american; mostly because of my neuro-divergence makes it easy for people to misread me due my intonation and body language and the number episodes of misunderstanding happened MUCH MORE frequently when i visited my potential new home country as a tourist over the last 40ish years.

i automatically qualify for citizenship for the country and i wonder what it's going to be like if i have to live there because i have both legal and cultural claim to the country; but i'm very much american plus an american that always seems arrogant and callous to everyone no matter how much he tries.

The internet is better with multiple services, multiple of many things. That’s how there is cooperation, compatibility and development for the better.

bluesky doesn't help with this; all social media platforms financed by investors are going to enshitify no matter how much they say they won't at the beginning. (reddit also said that they wouldn't the the beginning too).

the inventors behind stories like bluesky and reddit are the same ones that are reducing the your choice of multiple services on multiple things because they have an incentive to kill progress when it's competition that can challenge their profits and enshitify to squeeze out every last dollar before abandoning it themselves.

i'm glad that lol speak is still a thing; it's nice giggle like child at a fascist's expensive; no s(h)nark intended. 😉

(before you downvote me: know that i'm entitled to dad jokes since i'm at the appropriate age. lol)

i think that cock.li's experience is common for volunteer organizations in the american government's cross hairs and i forsee an expansion of something like this onto open source projects & platforms like lemmy in the future given some of the public manifestations we've seen in the news like the american's governments geopolitical posturing forcing the linux kernel project maintainers to expel russian contributors.

the american's governments restriction on open source projects like the linux kernel is a portent of what's to come and the entire FOSS world is going to be split into 2 because of it and with the better financed half being undeniably under the government's control, but its contributors will continue to call it "free and open sourced software" nonetheless due to having the most leverage (for now).

you must be something special; they didn't even give me a warning and they didn't say anything at all, just an immediately reddit style shadow ban. lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

how do you get the skunkiness out?

indeed; this is at the exact heart of the matter.

we wouldn't need ubi if we lived in a society where people worked because they simply wanted to.

and if only there was a certain group of people from the 19th century that had some astute observations and keen ideas about how we can revolutionize society. lol

i don't think that it'll be ubi as we understand it today and i don't doubt that they'll enshitify it as much as possible into the future since i'm also aware that both social security and unemployment were half measures intended to deter neuter revolutionary thought within the united states during the last time we had to deal with major socioeconomic changes that was pushing the country leftwards.

ubi (in whatever form it takes and at least at the beginning) will buy us time and i think that it's a silver lining that helps alleviate the anxiety from knowing about the work that lays ahead of us when theory doesn't provide needful encouragement; we're human beings & americans so we need time to adjust to reality after we've been living in ignorance like this our entire lives and also to learn how to focus on the positives & victories no matter how small they seem to be right now.

the theory i've "read" so far (not much yet) doesn't address the humanity of what the person has to go through in order to leave plato's cave and we're going to need silver linings and laughter to get through another trump administration; just like we did the last time things looked this bad for us.
