That poor bastard.

While I agree with Doctorow that said practice/phenomenon deserves a word, I still think "enshittification" is a bad choice, selected more for its shock-value and popular appeal than anything linguisticly relevant about it.

Not sure. Just going off the announcement yesterday saying the method nitter used to show Twitter posts has been shut down by the site.

I assume any existing alternative was using similar workaround, so I'd guess any new alternative would have to find another, undiscovered method, which doesn't seem likely.

Just an fyi, any still functioning nitter instance won't work much longer. Even the one you posted is already rate limited.

Oh neat. I'll look into that. Thanks!

Not what that word means

Are we gonna pretend Netflix was ever a "hero"? They were revolutionary for sure, but they were always profit driven. I don't think it's particularly wise to see any company as "the good one". Not to say companies can't be beneficial/useful, but it's always good to remember their singular goal.

Not what enshittification means.

Oh no, they'd get slightly less obscenely wealthy on the exploitation of ill-gotten biometrics *shockedpikachuface*

Taking advantage of inebriated people to hand over their biometrics, not even for a free burger, but a discounted burger.

Did you just call out someone that downvoted you by name? That's kinda weird.
