Believing that you are smart, is the first sign of not being it. Even the smartest people will admit that they are mostly good at maybe a few areas, and at best average at everything else.

Having a frozen lasagne is better than taking the full effort when...

Last month i made two lasagnas in one day and had none of it. I cut them up in pieces and froze them into 24 pieces. Now we have home made lasagna for those days where we dont feel like cooking dinner. It really does not need to take too much time and if you enjoy it, there is no need to not do it.

But how would someone with aphantasia be able to describe a fictional world well?

By definition they would need to describe something that they can't visualise

Under aphantasia, Wikipedia has a long list of famous people who have or had it.

How can these guys have aphantasia?

I dont get why google home is getting worse. I would have expected it to get better end better

Even better, make a list of the ads you see, and activelly avoid buying the products or services that they promote.

Its the same thing Facebook came up with

Its not even an option. They will still use cookies even if you pay. They'd just use it for their own use

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

They didn't even bother to write that lol.

At this point its getting ridiculous.

Their point 2 even states that even if you do pay them, they will still use cookies to track you and show personalised content

They have 100, 300, and unlimited for $0, $5, and $10

How much would you be willing to pay per search? And do you know how many searches you make every month?

For me, i pay not for the searches as such, but to not be tracked and be shown more ads than search results

They do have different tiers depending on your search volume and features, so in a way they already have this. I'd hate to have to go through checkout every time i did a search.

I asked this company to close and delete my account, and they replied that they have closed it. They use a type of ticket system where you need to log in to their site to see replies.

I wanted to reply, to ask if they also have deleted my data, instead of just closing the account. In order to contact them, they will create a new account SMH

I would have expected them to ask me to message them, in order to resolve the issue of not having access to my old email. Instead, they assume that I still have access to it, by simply contacting my email provider!

If I could do that, I wouldn't have lost access to it through would I?

I was actually there because i was considering creating an account and wanted to check it out.

Then they pop one of those and lost me for ever!

Sorry for the Danish post i hope you can translate it.

The Ministry warns that Microsoft programs can create problems for written exams for students with Mac computers.

Users who have updated the programs to the latest version may experience the programs running slowly, freezing and crashing. This means that the examinees are delayed in their work and that parts of the answers risk being lost, write the Agency for Education and Quality and the Agency for IT and Learning in a notice to schools.

Please use a personal email. My email is 'mail' @ 'my actual name'. It does not get more personal than that

But you can't use emails starting with mail@, admin@, support@, info@, main@, etc.

Instead they advised me (3 times) to create a personal email on a service like Yahoo, Outlook, Gmail, Orange, etc

DD/MM/YYYY FTW 🤘

A huge post about how to create a Facebook business account without a personal account. The whole thing was filler text and ambiguous sentences like this

https://birdeye.com/blog/how-to-create-a-facebook-business-page-without-a-personal-account/

The internet is dying, but it is being killed!

I would like to set up an online platform for users, within my niche hobby of interest, to blog about their activities. (notice the hosting company only has FTP access and databases - no SSH)

So it is basically an online blogging platform (could it be wordpress?) where people simply sign up and start blogging about their hobby. I would want sign up to be more or less automatic. As far as I could tell, Wordpress offers this, but an admin would be needed to set up and approve the new blog.

I was hopping for a joined feed on the front page, showing all post as the are posted, but also allow for each user to have their own "front page" or feed, with their own posts.

Categories, tags etc should be shared (but not uploaded media).

I have been looking at federated option, but the ones that I have found require SSH or me to be able to execute commands (?). I have only tried installing systems using the PHP files and I am not offered SSH or cPanel at my host

I am looking for a name for an idea that I have for a website. It is a niche hobby, but there is a greek word for it that most people don't know. Lets say its a book club and the word was Bibliophile or a music club called Melophile.

Would you, if you did not know the meaning, think of it as something sexual, or maybe even something bad? I am nervous that users might relate it to pedophile even though that is just one of, (but maybe best known) philias there are

I have a few domains and some space available on a we server that I have had for ages but never really used. Its mainly meant for website hosting and it works pretty well for WordPress and similar services.

Could I host any self posted programs on such a server and what should I search for when researching options?

I can set up a database and upload files to the ftp server but i dont believe that i have a C panel or can run ssh.
