It could be useful to link to some relevant communities in this posts description if people do want to ask questions.

Probably about 2 minutes, but usually I never have to queue.

Seriously, it seems like their election campaigning goes on for years. I dunno how the yanks don't just get fed up with it.

It's a noble goal don't get me wrong, but cars are just way too convenient to get rid of for most that don't live in the central zones of cities. Just things like taking your kid to their swimming lessons, evening activities, going to the tip and garden centre and dropping off at your parents en route, visiting friends that are several villages away, kids birthday party and then going to the supermarket after to pick up some food etc.

Something I've noticed is that people on Lemmy never seem to advocate for busses, it's always trains.

As much as people on Lemmy love trains, they're not replacing cars no matter how good the infrastructure is.

Trains are already electrified.

OP never stated what country they're from, you've just gone on some rant about Trump without even thinking that they may not be from the US.

Classic US defaultism.

You’re supposed to stop using the mouse while it is charging, and use the mouse unplugged.

Why? Says who? There's been a few times where I've booted my work laptop up in the morning and my mouse is dead and I've had to plug it in. Once it's charged I unplug it. What's the harm in that? I'd be way more furstrated if I had to open up my laptop (I keep it closed with an external monitor) and use the trackpad instead.

I get that, but it doesn't really make sense with a mouse as I pretty much never see the front of it as it's always ahead of me. The only person who would see it would be if someone were to be sat opposite.

Ingress is a good game! I opened it recently and there’s lots of red stuff, though 🤣

Yeah, there's a lot of red in my area too (I think I saw some global stats and the "red" team are way ahead of green). The last time I played it, it was green vs blue, so not sure when that changed.

I think I’m more traditional. I would like to wake up (not tired), go to an early morning church service and listen to BBC Radio 4’s morning worship while getting ready, then go to another church service in the late morning, then go home, have a sunday roast, relax a bit before ending the day with an evening service.

Damn that's a lot of services! What would be the difference between the early morning service and the late morning one?

For me feddit.uk stuck out as when I was joining Lemmy, (my initial choice was lemmy.world), it seemed like it would be a safe bet as it was clearly set up by UK based people that had also come from Reddit like myself, so it had a sense of familiarity. I'm guessing that's why the other feddit. also became somewhat popular instances.

For me it would be where the sun is shining, the house is tidy and there's no chores to do.

Start off with a decent breakfast and a decent mug of coffee. I'd have had my run the previous day so can rest a bit. Maybe head out for a walk, grab some lunch at the local garden centre. I've just redownloaded the game Ingress after not playing it for years, so maybe play that for a couple of hours.

Get home and watch the F1 while I prepare and cook a lasagne in the afternoon. Smash said lasagne with a glass or two of a nice red wine and then spend the evening playing Minecraft for a few hours, then an hour or two of reading before bed.

The reality though is far different as I have two young kids!

But do the categories (Animal, Vegetable, Mineral) just make no sense against the possibile answers?

The instructions for the game are at the top. A player picks a word from a card and the other player has to guess the word they've picked, starting by asking if it's an animal, vegetable or mineral.

I'll go first: "cumming in your ears!"

I'll start: Greggs is massively overrated. I genuinely don't understand how people hype it.

Edit: this is a casual community so it would be great if we could avoid politics lest it descend into chaos!

Got any plans this weekend? Going away for a nice long weekend? Staying in and gaming for two days straight? Celebrating your divorce? We want to hear it 😎

Personally we're just going to make some home made pizzas, and enjoy a bottle of red after the kids have (finally) gone to bed. Then we're getting a rare evening to ourselves on Saturday night by heading out to a local restaurant.

Currently reading Tom Clancy - Debt of Honour, although I'm struggling to keep motivated as the writing is so damn small with tiny line spacing!

Should I get the 1kg long grain rice at £1.25, or the same 1kg long grain rice at £1.60?
