The suggested tip may be less than what's normally suggested, but even the 'minimum' 8% tip means it adds up to a total of 26%, which is way more than my own usual 20%.

I like Nocturne, a podcast about things that happen in the night. Three of my favorite episodes are:

  • Nightways, an absolutely fascinating look into the productive and creative ways our ancestors spent the dark hours.

  • Elk River Road, where two young women on a roadtrip get lost in the woods overnight and how they face their fears.

  • Finding the Void, an artist and his friends rebel against the new shopping complex and end up living in an apartment they create between the walls of the mall.

I've just started downvoting anything that looks like it's promoting a YouTube channel. I don't want a five or ten minute video communicating something I can read in thirty seconds.

Well, they're using renewable energy to power it. The limestone looks like it's just constantly recycled, so it would be just the initial transport there. Their output is tanks of compressed carbon dioxide which is sent to a concrete maker, so it really depends on how far away the concrete maker is. There's a thing called industrial symbiosis, where manufacturers co-locate so that one factory's waste easily becomes the factory next door's input.

There's a thing called industrial symbiosis, where the waste products from one business become the inputs for another business. It takes a bit of effort and planning, but it can result in a much more sustainable world. There's a place in Denmark called Kalundborg that's really been working on it and has some nice examples.

sceptical Thor meme. But does it? Does it really?

I still say that Google should just buy reddit and then leave it alone. Reddit gets to live it's life being what it is and becomes financially self-sustaining (though not hugely profitable) because spez won't be around to chase whatever Shiny has caught his eye now. And Google gets all of reddit's data to power both it's search results and it's AI work.

Interesting thought: Google wants (needs) reddit's content, and reddit wants to IPO. Why doesn't Google just buy reddit? It's pocket change to Google, really, gets them what they want (content), gets reddit what they want (money).

Was it a new flavor?

NPR says they didn't lose any traffic when they left Twitter, the Times should leave too.
