at least once a month i have to dodge some moron passing on the right (and through empty, marked, parking spaces..which is not legal), someone who is either turning left or had stopped for me---in a marked crosswalk, and literally right in front a fucking sign that says 'stop for pedestrians'.

they would never dare disrupt the cash cow with gays or queers, or atheists or 'non christians', or a realistic portrayal of a poor or homeless person, or too many brown persons.

leeching off a public wifi will be less reliable, probably significantly slower, and possibly subject to (unknown to you) use limits of their own.

pretty sure your provider has an unlimited option for a little more per-month. just upgrade to that for awhile, then go back to the capped plan when you're no longer going over its limit.

if you need to stay within a provider's monthly limit, just set 'speed limits' on your downloads so you won't go over for a month, and also so you have some bandwidth, and quota, leftover for other online 'activities'.

there's a couple decent deals on basic laptops.. that aren't shit-tier specs, either. that's about all i've seen--but then, i haven't been "looking" either. rent keeps going up, can't afford anything so i don't even bother to look at ads and sales on things that aren't absolutely essential to simply exist.

i do plan on going to wm on friday.. but later in the afternoon--for a few groceries.

phones and tv puts the viewing experience in their app in most cases, too, and out of the reach of effective ad blockers.

desktop pc user share on yt has to be pretty low nowadays.

i ended up with a cheapened 'walmart' model that was also a "last year's model". was the cheapest, smallest 1080p in the store a couple years back when prices were inflated and selection was weak. but i couldn't take it back, it was a gift.

i'm stuck with only 2 hdmi, no bt or 3.5mm, and rca analog inputs i'll never use... but at least i got the better remote than a co-worker that has the next year's model--and i'm still grateful i was able to finally dump the 19 inch tube and the equally-small monitor that were serving as my "TVs".

ublock origin is published to the addon 'store' for edge and opera, in addition to mozilla's (firefox and thunderbird) and chrome. links to all are on the repo's main page https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock

this isn't much different than when microsoft added code specifically to break windows 3.1 when run under dr-dos instead of their own ms-dos. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AARD_code

microsoft's version of 'hard mode' is removing gui for settings--hiding them them in registry entries or (unavailable in 'home' edition) group policy.. or removing them completely and needing actual hacks of binaries to do.
