remo williams was a decent, entertaining movie that flopped in theaters. a tv pilot was also produced, and but didn't lead to a series order.

based on the popular the destroyer series of novels (of which there is now over 150 published), it had huge potential.

not all that 'surprising' given its lackluster performance at the box office, more a 'disappointment'.. although hollywood has made far worse.

same here. almost always something 'on' just for 'noise'. actual 'watching' isn't all that much, an episode or two, or a movie, is usually about all. nothing off local stations, either. no more cable anymore, and can't get reception via antenna. what 'live tv' we do have on comes from a 'free' streamer like pluto.

and lemme guess.. amazon doesn't want to 'partner' with any local entities, like a joint venture with sufficient local ownership to get better rates--they want to own and control everything.

i don't sign-in to my systems with a microsoft account. hell, i don't even have one. nowadays, i dunno if i could even get one--and maintain it, as i do not have, nor want, an sms-capable or 'smart' phone. they don't do 'verification' bullshit by voice anymore, just sms.

we still run win10 at the office on dual core wolfdale systems. they mostly now have 8gb ram and sata ssd. they run great. wolfdale launched in 2008, seven years before win10 was released.

i also have win11 set up on ivy bridge and haswell, that are also running very well. used daily for everything from basic office tasks, email with local multi-gigabyte mail stores, to video capture and editing. these are even older in relation to win11 than wolfdale is to win10.

the main issue is microsoft has unilaterally and arbitrarily decided that all these systems, all the way up to kaby lake (which was only discontinued by intel in 2020), which are usable by many, if not most, users for the tasks they perform are now 'obsolete'.... all in the name of profits for them and their oem partners.

currently cinnamon on mint and manjaro, plus rpi desktop in a couple vm. also use console-only debian and dietpi.

if you pay a membership (costco, sams, etc), they are allowed to stop you at the door and 'check' your receipt.

other stores, just say 'no thanks' and keep walking, or have visible earbuds in and be jammin' out the door.

so glad walmart here turned off the bagging scales. you can just take the wireless 'gun' and 'shoot' everything in your cart and toss 'em into your reusable bags as you go.

last time we hit aldi, no bags or boxes. we just threw all the stuff into the trunk and dealt with it at home.

our walmart is the same way. one lane open. sometimes two, but that's often a trainee.

i used to carry a backpack all the time when i lived in the city and rode the bus or train everywhere, including to grocery stores, target, walmart and the like. never once had a problem from workers in a store. this was the 80s-90s, times were 'different' then, as people would say. of course, looking 'mostly' caucasian probably helped somewhat. today, though, i would probably get hassled at most stores in those same cities, if i carried a backpack while i shopped.
