Your analogy is really off the point. "Work" doesn't just mean "the product of force and displacement", it's a word in the English language with many different meanings, most being listed out in the picture below.

But the left-right political spectrum doesn't have different definitions as it is a term, with hierarchical ideologies being considered "right", non-hierarchical ideologies being considered "left", and milder ideological positions being considered "center". Even if the populace of one nation uses the terms to refer to ruling and opposing parties, it doesn't change the inherent definitions of them.

By the way, the official Pixelfed app on the Play Store seems to have Google AdMob integrated if you care about that kind of thing. I'd recommend installing Pixelix or PixelDroid from the official F-Droid repositories instead.
