There's no single vision of the fediverse. There's no arbiter of truth on the fediverse. So count me in the camp of people who would absolutely love an app on the fediverse that tailors content to me.

I just spent 4 hours trying various window managers and shell extensions to replicate what I had with fancy zones in Windows. Finally came close with the gTile gnome shell extension, but it's still not quite what I had.
It's not even a Linux deficiency or anything, but let's not pretend that switching operating systems is a trivial endeavour.

Well said! I agree with almost everything, except I still want algorithms. I think I'd say "free from algorithms that serve corporate interests" instead. Algorithms that help me find content I genuinely enjoy are sorely missed.
