I suppose, at this point, I want to understand whether you accidentally misinterpreted the context of the original comment (downloading .exe from TPB) or intentionally misinterpreted it for "comedic effect".

So is your point to argue semantics?
"Downloading" colloquially referes to the proces of saving some data onto persistent storage device. When you open HTML pages they are loaded directly into RAM. They might be saved to drive if they are cached. But no regular person would refer to that process as downloading. Even I, as a webdev, don't.
In that case your comment doesn't make much sense, because when people say "don't trust that torrent site" they mean the contents of the torrents hosted there. In fact, if you use magnets, you don't download anything at all from torrent sites ever.
Don't you ever pirate software?
In other words, wizards do exist, they are just called IT specialists.
Why? What grammatical mistake did I make?
Game is game. Play whatever brings you joy. Except FIFA, of course.
Lemmy often assumes the worst about comments. I think people interpreted* your comment as "can you imagine this woman I know enjoys this kiddy game?!". While you really meant, I think, "some adults like to play Fortnite, too, actually".
Correct me if I'm wrong.
It's not better, it's just different, your comparison is flawed.
Personally, I prefer analog watches for most cases, because it's much easier for me to do calculations visually. To add 6 to 7/19 on a digital clock I need to turn on my math brain (19+6=25, 25>24 => 25-24=1), but on an analog watch I can just visually read the number opposite of 7.
And that's just one example, there are other cases, besides just being easier to read at a glance. I've used both digital and analog watches since birth, but analog watches are marginally better for daily use, where to the second precision isn't necessary.
I wasn't making it sound bad. I'm just saying how it is. We wouldn't tolerate game mechanics like those nowadays. That's all I'm saying.
There aren't that many. A good chunk of us here are Linux nerds. You don't have to be condescending about confronting (I assume) intentional misinterpretation of comments.
