you unironically just have to cope with it in whatever way makes sense to you

I personally think of my career as: "some things I do are interesting and keep me from blowing my brains out, the rest I don't care about"

when it comes to the company I work for: I treat everyone I meet well, no corporate bs, no yes sir yes ma'am. I do whatever I'm assigned and meet deadlines

but I never go above and beyond (because of burnout)

everything you've thought about hard work = reward or better pay is a scam

put everything into work-life balance and when you go home focus on things you really want to do, such as hobbies or hang outs

don't do unpaid overtime, don't bend over for anyone, don't offer yourself up when shit goes down

you want to be as invisible as possible while not burning out AND not working your ass off (everyone has different standards for what this means)

tldr: just find some way to cope because there isn't really anything else you can do

short answer: yes

long answer: opinions are kind of a privilege. if you're someone working 9 to 5 you probably couldn't give a shit about anything other than relaxing and winding down from the stress of a work week. if you're someone who manages to still be involved, congrats. pushing this unto other people imo is not fair. ideally people would work less and have more free time to get situated with how their surroundings are being legislated

GitHub CI is great. too great. some devs have taken it upon their hands to attempt and wield an unwieldy power.

and unfortunately at my work it is my job to fix that unwieldy power

corporations can create good applications and tooling, they also create toxic dark pattern applications

open source devs can create air tight software or they can make some dingus word alternatives that just doesn't work at all

I love open source but there are certainly some bad programs out there (for free though)

suits don't give a shit about anything except lining their pockets. part of the job is to say things that get public approval which is often mistaken as them actually caring for said things

I don't think I'm very ND but it's very obvious to me in all social settings that I'm not NT. it's a variety of things, but typically it's like people staring straight into your eye balls when you talk to them, or the touching, or things like queueing or pathing to and from a place

it's definitely free labor for them, they're incompetent and likely checking notes on how other more competent people would approach deploying in whatever fashion they want to

I have this pet peeve of loud morning talkers. I don't know how to explain it but I believe I don't mind loud talkers in everyday life but I notice it right after waking up.

(Usage of the word talkers over speakers chosen to emphasize the human and not the electronic product)
