For response; see last paragraph in my comment

That's pretty easy tbh, most of the core bitcoin devs all work for a single company that can absolutely be bought out, and even have gone on record on how much they dislike bitcoin.

It was the main reason I got out, I bought into it because I was excited by the tech behind it, but no single company should have that much control over the direction it goes in.

Now you could argue that if they did so the chain would just split and the rest of the world would just stay off the USA owned chain, but imo they have already done so much against the interest of bitcoin and everyone has just gone along with it so far (minus the bch split) so what do I know.

I do, I've been trying to get off it and onto Bazzite but I tried to do a test run by installing it on my laptop before my pc and the boot loader won't pick up the usb 😔

I don't feel comfortable doing it on my pc without first seeing it work, so it seems I'm stuck on windows

I believe they are referring to Lemmy.ml

Your biggest mistake is trusting the word of a corporation.

If it was a good faith action why would they do it in secret, why not make a post about it and informing everyone before hand about the situation?

For me, all evidence points to them hoping no one would notice and "temporary" would roll over into permanently.

Don't use brave if you care about privacy, they claim to be privacy focused but will sell you out the first chance they get (which they already did)

Honestly it looks like corpo speak for "we're waiting for everyone to forget so we can sweep it under the rug".

Imo yes it would, because then it wouldn't be hidden censorship, it would be noticeable to even the average joe and ways around it would become more widespread.

No browser should be censoring any content, if a country wants to block something they should be forced to do it themselves, which would be more visible to the public.

Also the fact they didn't tell anyone until people started asking questions... This isn't a "good faith, temporary" action. It's a "let's hope no one notices us doing bad shit" action.

Jeez, I am currently trying to install Linux on my HP ProBook and having issues with it - one thing I noticed was my bios was last updated in 2014 so I was going to see if updating helped... Might hold off on that now

I get your point, and you're probably right for most, but I haven't purchased a premade desktop in a looong time - my current desktop I purchased the parts individually and installed windows manually

I'm so fed up of these cookie popups requiring a few extra clicks to reject, are there any extensions that will automatically opt out or reject additional cookies?
