EU is usually very pro consumer but not long ago there were (and there still are) some shit takes on piracy and stuff.

I don't think they'll ban VPNs though. It's not pro consumer and it's anti-privacy which EU is also very strong on.

I think that's valid, but you have to take into account that mostly everyone isn't as efficient on the phone as what you've described.

I get what you mean. Overall, if it's not urgent I'd rather not make/receive calls.

I wouldn't say we're afraid. I don't particularly like speaking on the phone though, but it's alright, I even worked call center for a while so it doesn't bother me much these days.

Anyways, essentially texting is just more efficient. I can't speak for everyone else, but for instance at work, I hate it when I have a question or need assistance on a specific topic, ask on my team chat and have a couple of people saying "quick call?".

If it's something really complex, fine... that's fair. Other than that? It's just so inefficient. I can be working on something else and just reply during my off time between tasks, same with whoever I ask help from. Also, most of the time I'm listening to music, or I have my TV with ambience sound on the background. So then I have to turn everything off just so I can go for a 5minute call for something that could be done over chat on the same amount of time.

Sorry this comment turned out way longer than I thought it would.

That took me a while to understand haha

What drugs are you high on?

I didn't say those memes should be kept around. I said they should have their own community in the sense that I don't want them here.

Truth be told, we would have no way to ban those people from creating a community or even an entire instance if they wanted to.

Also, I'm not from the US. No fucking clue what you mean by white moderate. Also, why specifically white? Wtf

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I agree with you there. I hate that little old scrutum too.

But, if those memes would start to get too edgy, yes I would still want a specific community for them

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm not gonna argue with you anymore. You do you.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I wouldn't know, I'm not from the US ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But for what little I know of US politics, I believe you are correct.

Nah, I'm describing a meme focused community.

If there are no politics, there are no echo chambers to be had.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (10 children)

You guys are making it political.

Remove the hexbear instance and you'll see that most of the comments agree on what is and isn't politics, even thought their feelings towards X and Y political party differ. It's seems it's just you guys creating a shit storm of nonsense and everybody else kinda getting along despite their differences.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

It's alright. I appreciate you guys in a way. Honestly I don't want my feed to be on an echo chamber, that's not good for anyone.

I just don't think this is the right community to do it.

WSL and docker (lemmy.ml)

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to get WSL and docker to work together. They kinda do at the moment, I installed an image of HomeAssistant but I noticed that I can't connect to it from Windows.

I've used the virtual adapter IP, localhost, 127.0.0.1 but nothing let's me get through it.

I did install debian instead of the default Ubuntu on windows since I've used debian before so I thought why not, and I'm wondering if that's what messed it up. After a quick Google search I found some people with the same issue but apparently this should've been fixed in newer Windows Updates (I think it was fixed back in 2020~2021).

Also, I just want to use WSL because it's easier from Windows imo but mostly just to test things :) I didn't even have anything to put on HAI just testing stuff really.

Edit: someone pointed out that I should use the HA app on windows. That's exactly what I am doing. Sorry if that isn't clear.

Windows 11 WSL enabled Docker Windows app installed.
