Without saying anything about politics, environment, or source:

Why, for the love of Satan, does this graph have only 2 data points per source?

Why use a line chart ๐Ÿ“‰ for that?

This is clear bar chart territory ๐Ÿ“Š.

I don't think it would work well as a movie, but I think it would make for a great miniseries with converging chronologies.

And some are set in the past! A large period of time is covered.

I think that it is an influence worth risking.

The settings themselves vary wildly, and technically the books occur before, during, and after the present. The level of technology varies wildly.

The one thing in common is the examination of the content of the character of the "human" being, and how we are the same or different, adapt or don't, expand or hide.

It's truly masterful work that, yes has cool gizmos and concepts but worries more about how the gizmos make you feel.

No one has mentioned The Culture?

There really wouldn't be much to update because a good chunk of it is still modern. Not only that, but Banks really fucked with gender, ideology, and civil rights in a way that is still incredibly relevant in 2023.

I also really want someone to try to portray Fwi-Song from Consider Phlebas.

Oh boy, what can't we put ads in?

Can we get MtDew Green Lights with Coca-Cola Red lights?

The spacebar on laptops is free game, just asking for it.

It really is a shame that I can still buy bedsheets that aren't branded with a corporate advertising campaign.

I guess only men can answer but fuck it.

Trans women who want to get rid of their penis get shafted (pun intended) by circumcision as it reduces the amount of material for GRS.

That plus those who want to keep it have to deal with the same impacts as other penis owners. Perhaps even more so, as lack of T and atrophy are not assisted by the loss of the protective layer.

Most people don't really have a string opinion though, since you don't often find someone who experienced a sex life with a penis in both configurations.

Open source does not mean open license.

It is 5 minutes of work to use your source control tool, and have a read only view for other people.

Being open source doesn't mean you have to accept PRs or pay for audits. It just means your source is... Open...

There's nothing disingenuous about that? Did we read the same things?

Being closed source doesn't fix any of the issues they noted.

I'd rather they just say "I'm ashamed of my code".

I just commented this elsewhere, but I personally feel that their reasons for being closed source are worse than actually just being closed source.

Who could have guessed that may-issue permits could be (gasp) abused!

I thought the police would be even and fair in their determination of who should get one, just like they are in all their other activities.
