I'm curious how accurate the PII is. I can generate strings of text and numbers and say that it's a person's name and phone number. But that doesn't mean it's PII. LLMs like to hallucinate a lot.

Half the time the hard drive wouldn’t even spin down, which sure is nice when you’re planning to be jostling it around in a bag for a couple hours.

I'm pretty sure this is what trashed my first laptop. Thankfully I didn't have a lot of information on there yet and was able to replace the hard drive. But absolutely ridiculous that this passed quality control.

It's a good energy source in principle and Germany definitely should have let their reactors run longer, but it's just too damn expensive to build new ones. I'm not aware of any serious private installations of nuclear that are being built right now. One small modular reactor company in the US recently announced they will need twice as much money as previous estimated to build one.

Meanwhile, a ton of people and companies are building solar and wind everywhere.

If you are hired to do a task and then overrun the budget by 14B$ I wouldn't exactly call it furthering the cause. More like incompetence and/or trying to detail the project.

The 11 stands for the number of arms that have been bolted onto the dog in an attempt to turn it into an octopus.

I have used https://github.com/Nixola/VRRTest before to check the refresh frequency. I use X11 and wanted to check if my 144Hz monitors work with my older 60Hz one. Set the test mode to squares and the frame rate to twice your monitor's refresh rate. You should see every second square light up. If this is not the case, play around with the frame rate in the program until every second square lights up.

I can't see the difference either though. Yes, the mouse moves a bit quicker if I pay attention to it. But I do not care or notice, to be honest.

Your usecase may be different, but I am usually not required to catch solid color frames in my day to day computer use.

To be fair you can say that about the US (and related allies) as well.

That's because this is the maximum integer that can be stored in a double precision floating point number without loss of precision, lol

A better comparison may be the inequality before the civil war. Which was then improved by fighting a war about it.

So it may also get wayyy worse before it gets better again.

(Though I also agree with the assessment that it's pretty overdramatized by the media)

For what it's worth you can replace the "short" in the url with "watch" to get the old interface back.
