I'm starting to feel like this whole AI craze that big tech companies are forcing onto others is just a dick measuring contest that none of them have the balls to back out of even though they all know it's a stalemate.

If only there was a way to keep files on a device you can keep in your home. Maybe even set up a closed system that you can access from everywhere without having to rely on Google's servers 24/7.
Oh wait, there is. Nevermind.
As much as I'm talking shit, I get it. At the end of the day convenience is a hell of a drug.
With how they treat the things they are supposedly good at, I can only imagine how catastrophic this could be. I don't think you'd want the people working at a nuclear power plant to be so overwhelmed with work they need to piss in bottles.
I mean, it probably tasted better.
I keep a backpack in my car with at least two changes of clothes, allergy pills, ibuprofen, sunscreen, and deodorant, toothbrush, and first aid. Worst case I'm ready when shit hits the fan. Best case I'm always ready for a surprise slumber party.
I just like to be prepared for if I get stranded during a storm or my car breaks down
Humanity isn't even "good" enough to not poison LLM's in the first place. I respect the optimism, though.
Helping. They are helping.
Innocent civilians are dying so Microsoft, Meta, Google, and Amazon can make more money. Seems mostly related to AI, but I'm sure it's only the tip of the iceberg.
I'd say that I hope nothing changes, but I honestly hope it escalates significantly. I'm so exhausted about hearing how companies are fucking us over every day.
Yeah, I agree with that. And their solution instead of actually fixing the problem is throwing money and computing power at it in the hope that brute force will make it "better." When in reality it hasn't even changed that much in the past year besides more eloquently saying complete bullshit. Call it a conspiracy, but I think with nobody ever telling the truth on the internet, LLM's have only taught themselves to bullshit everyone into believing them.
If it weren't for networking I would have never gone from being a line cook that barely graduated highschool to a CAD tech for a land surveying company. Had literally zero experience and was definitely not what I thought I'd be doing in five years when I was working the closing shift at restaurants every night until 2:00 AM.
