Centralized communications are susceptible to government controls, while decentralized systems are more difficult to stop, like Lemmy for example.

This is why you should prefer a better protocol like SimpleX

Obviously excluding videos whose authors explicitly do not want to, or copyrighted content that could create problems for individual instances.

By doing this PeerTube could become a kind of youtube database of quality content, excluding shorts and toxic/futile videos. What do you think of this approach? Could it make PT more attractive, or would it create problems for the platform?

I'm sure many creators would do it themselves but don't have time, or many would do it but don't even know about the existence of the Fediverse. Perhaps you could start by making “fan channels,” with all the most important and significant videos on a youtube channel (so without having to stay up-to-date on recent releases).

FreeTube isn't working for IP related issues atm, I'm having more luck with NewPipe.

(edit) Fix in the latest update!

Interesting alternative, thanks. SimpleX is the only one, as far as I know, allowing chronology since it has a chat and all, you can probably use also matrix protocol the same way but it require an account.

Yeah I'm test it and it's just annoying for multiple files since you can't share folders, you can probably send .zip/similar but you need to compress files first.

edit: But in general it works pretty good.

I also considered wormhole protocol but clients are very minimal, you don't have chronology and you can't access your old uploaded files like in SimpleX.

Have you tried with folders or zip?

I also love Synching but I was searching for something across the internet.

Thanks but I was searching for file sharing on the web.

Isn't this just to share stuff in your local network between your os and phone?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Phones aren't in the same local network

Is it a good idea to share files between two Android phones anonymously thru the SimpleX Chat transfer protocol? Or are there easier/better ways?

It seems that YouTube is killing them all but I don't know the technical details, via FreeTube I noticed, from this link (https://api.invidious.io/), that there are very few left and they require signup, and probably financial support from users.

Which brands are generally more piracy-friendly? Do you suggest any specific model? Or maybe there are products that are easily customizable at the OS level? Thanks!

Hi, I recently discovered a post that finally allowed me to run the known repacks on Linux, so I decided to summarize everything and share it with you here on Lemmy; let me know if you would improve some steps to make the procedure even easier to follow.

Maybe using Syncthing or MPD? I'm searching something to keep/share my votes or even maybe listen counts for desktop and mobile. Also it would be nice to create a backup for these data.

I love the ViMusic/RiMusic UI, it's something different that works also better than standard material designs.

SimpleX Chat is an instant messenger that is decentralized and doesn't depend on any unique identifiers such as phone numbers or usernames. Users of SimpleX Chat can scan a QR code or click an invite link to participate in group conversations.

It's clearly proving to be the most innovative technology when it comes to decentralized communication, in my opinion.
