"AI company shuts down"

We're gonna read that more often in the next few years.

Oh wow, it was that easy all the time to fix a country's economy? Why did no one think of that before?

People say that everything before becoming a parent yourself is just extended childhood. Can partially confirm. If the kid is with someone else, you can also be a child again.

I always carry a USB stick in my backpack in case I need to install Linux.

Well, let's say I haven't figured out how to block whole instances, or maybe it was not possible when I made my first Lemmy account. But on the anime instances there is like a new community every week or so.

True. On lemmy I have a long blocklist full of anime stuff.

I just made an account in bluesky. And was greeted by lots of anime tits. Nothing against people's preferences, but is this how businesses nowadays greet new customers? I mean, they are trying to build a twitter alternative, aren't they?

Those who know, know.

Most pill apps are meant for scheduled medications, like something you take every morning. But I take a medication on-demand, with the only rule to take at most X per day and wait at least Y hours between taking. So I only need to worry about taking it too often. Is there an app where I can track when I take this medication, and that tells me if I can take another one already?

Are they usually unique countrywide? Worldwide?

Should be easy to use, remember what I bought before and propose things that are probably running out (based on my personal buying frequency), and allow sharing the list between multiple people. Ideally also allow adding recipes for meals that I cook often.

The alarmism around AI is just a marketing spin.

As @[email protected] wrote: that's "mystical nonsense about spontaneous consciousness arising from applied statistics".

Real problems we face with AI are:

Ghost labor, erosion of the rights of artists, costs of automation, the climate impact of data-centers and the human impact of biased, opaque, incompetent and unfit algorithmic systems.
