Oh well, it doesn't feel like Google Search is going that well. Searching on Google now feels like shit.

I second the custom domain part.

It's easy to setup and it doesn't lock you to any single provider, in case you want to change in the future

If you buy a custom domain then you won't have to worry in the future, you will be able to switch mail provider without changing your email on any service you use

ProtonMail has a family plan, and they promise to encrypt your emails.

PurelyMail is nice and super cheap, the only downside is that it's run by a single guy.

Zoho is like 10 dollars per year per user, even though it's geared towards companies and not families.

SourceForge had a better UX for those who just want to download software.

And SF is horrible, so this says a lot.

And Wordpress is a horrible example of PHP code

Laravel is a completely better PHP project

I'm still angry at what happened to WatchPeopleDie.

Is there a similar community here on the fediverse?

I partially agree with you, and of course I hate those cookie banners, they're completely annoying.

But please remember that it's not the EU's fault is every website is trying to violate your privacy.

If websites weren't tracking everything you do, then cookie banners wouldn't be needed.

I think we should collectively ask for websites to stop spying on us, not changing the cookie banners regulation.

And it's way better than social media

Yes, I own a domain (it's like 10 dollars/euros per year) and I just point the records to a third party service like ProtonMail or Purely mail (they give you the exact records you need to input in your DNS panel)

This is good advice for anyone considering to move out of Gmail.

Do not just move to another provider, use your own domain and you'll never have to worry about changing your email address everywhere

Exactly, it's like if a company said "We're not going to launch a bomb, trust us"... It would totally mean that they're considering launching a bomb
