3 days? That's downright speedy!

I submitted a ticket that fell into a black hole. I have long since found an alternate solution, but am now keeping the ticket open for the sick fascination of seeing how long it takes to get a response. 47 days and counting...

I haven't modded on Lemmy so not sure how applicable these all are.

When removing a comment, cite the specific rule they are in violation of. It helps them understand why, it helps anyone else in the community know why, and it helps yourself and other mods if the person appeals down the road. Be transparent.

When removing a comment because a portion is unacceptable, i.e., they throw in an unnecessary slur when the rest of the comment is fine, offer to restore the comment once they edit it to remove the slur.

Establish ban guidelines within the mod group. First time offense? One day. Egregious offense? What's the threshold for "egregious" and when does it result in permaban? This person who got a 1-day ban for the f-slur, is the same ban length being consistently applied to other users of the f-slur?

If you feel a personal dislike of a user, check your decisions against another mod for an outside perspective. Or better yet, just ask them to mod that particular comment/post and remove yourself from the conflict of interest.

Same, but without the SO to help.

New head canon, this is a government conspiracy to push polygamy. I will need at least two wives and three husbands to afford a house.

Podcasts and audiobooks.

And I don't get hung up on those being "better" than YouTube videos. There are educational videos and there is enjoyable fluff and there is actively crap content (think stuff that makes you go into negativity spirals).

Educational YT is the same as educational podcasts or audiobooks, imo.

I bought a used 2015 Camry and have had no problems that I couldn't handle myself. Or just ignore, like tire pressure sensors that give false failure signals.

I got in trouble with my mom when she found out I went to Midnight Meat Train. She thought it was a porno. Not sure why she thought the local theater would be playing a porno or why they would let a bunch of high schoolers in 🤷

A coworker got a German shepherd, insisting she grew up with the breed and knew how to train them and exercise them properly.

She went to a training class where she and her dog theoretically learned "heel", coworker just didn't listen. I had the dog on a leash, commanded "heel", it came right over to my left, and coworker was baffled because she didn't know her dog would do that.

If my coworker is at all representative of the average dog owner, it's the owners that need the training.

That's awful. So heartless when your wife is going through physical terrors and both of you through emotional. And thank you for sharing, I can only hope the shitheels pushing these laws finally start listening to them.

US, my home state just sent a woman to prison for helping her daughter get an abortion. So, you know, living under a shitty theocracy that believes being poor or a woman is the worst sin imaginable.

It will be a political debate point for decades to come, as how to support Israel has been a point of debate for decades past.

US politics at the foreign policy level can change dramatically every election cycle. I can't guess what their policies might be in the next 1, 5, 10 years.

It's a stereotype, maybe even a generalization. It's not "very true". It can't be; there's about 130,000 men in the world who play soccer professionally or semi-professionally.

Just because certain cultures incentivize hooligan behavior (looking at you, London), doesn't mean all everywhere do.

You look 0% goofy. You're nailing it; dressed up a bit more than a help desk job probably requires on a daily basis, not so fancy that you look like you're going to a job with a much stricter dress code.
