Because I'm free to complain about things I don't like.

Many of my friends use Discord but I also use Matrix and I prefer that. This is a Signal/WhatsApp like situation.

If Discord starts shoving them ads maybe I can bring some people over to a more secure platform easily.

If it wasn't a privacy nightmare maybe I will consider paying, but data theft + ads? Naaaah.

Time to move to Matrix then, and I'm not even joking. Ads are Aids.

Never tried it because it lacked cloud sync, but now that I know about Syncthing/Nextcloud I might take a look at it.

Can you share other alternatives that are fully opensource to create a knowledge base? The only services I know similar to these are notebook managers.

Are you adding it manually or do you have some sort of automation?

I've been seeing for a while comments like yours that put a license link at the end of the comment. Can you explain to me the benefits of doing that or is it makes any difference? If I'm not mistaken the content posted on a Lemmy instace adheres to the license that the instance is using.

ActivityPub integration on git remote repos sounds very interesting. Thanks for sharing that, I'll definetely take a look at Codeberg/Forgejo.
