Anyone that knows me personally might have enough clues to find me on here if that was their goal. Govment agencies probably could too if an agent was assigned. I try to talk about my personal circumstances in general terms, like you can know what cities I've been to and live around and maybe which corner of it but I take various measures in attempt to obfuscate any precision beyond that. One measure is I wait at least one week to several months before I post an original picture of mine, and endeavour to keep my hands or silhouette out of the photos.

I try to source my information in the same way between subject areas I am knowledgeable in and those that I'm not to lead people off the trail to where my actual expertise is.

What I can't hide is how much I love trains though. That will be how "the man" finds me.

I say by all means, keep up that lie to yourself.

Oh! I can do better than the LLM to write code:

// TODO (Linus Torvalds) write this app for me, kthxbye.

Yeah Helldivers 2 is an example of a game that is mindblowing to me that it runs at all. If this were 2021 the process would be something like:

Download Doitsu-jin's DXVK from Github...

Download some scripts Joshua Ashton painstakingly created from Github 🐸 to get GameGuard to work...

Get one very specific version of Glorious Eggroll's Wine "fork" with patches.

Try 5 different launch options, Winetricks, and cross fingers that you get more than just the sound.

Every update would need to get a new version of the script fork or introduce a new workaround. Those that use Lutris/PlayOnLinux would hopefully have their scripts updated within 2 days if lucky.

Fast forward to now: Click Play and everything is set up. Hot damn.

I have no idea how US contract law works. Even if you agree to something that says "we can alter the deal at any time", when a change happens to the deal, don't both sides have to benefit, rather than "agree to this change so that you can keep the same thing you had before"?

Microsoft's really trying to steal Google's thunder with that move.

IME in Van City, Tesla drivers seem to expect their cameras to see cyclists for them when turning right rather than actually bothering to look.

Lemmy server operators can now say they have better 24h uptime than Meta! lol

You can consider almost anything publicly posted to Lemmy as permanent. As I keep saying, please be careful.

I do think a way to automatically store the uploaded image urls and associated delete keys under your user is a necessary feature.

For personal image hosting I use postimage, but any external host that lets you modify/remove images under your account will do.
