The only problem is the Lemmy creators are also bootlickers, just the boots were made by a different colonial holding. I'm very thankful for instances like lemmy.blahaj.zone, beehaw.org, and slrpnk.net, as well as to a lesser extent lemmy.db0.net, but the fact is there's a large number of bootlickers here who like a different flavor of boot

I'm getting closed to hosting an XMPP server and getting the fuck off discord. They can rot in hell
Because he's who wrote all the ideas everyone hated. He wasn't responsible for the laziness of the set designers (looking at you Starbucks cups) but he was responsible for a large number of decisions people hated
"Our current product offering is less than $50. We were thinking the next iteration should be $300"
What's funny is that was actually the start of them becoming who they are now. There's a litany of evidence they stole the Chromecast technology
Strip them for parts (which is to say extract all the value in the form of golden parachutes)
Yeah. The CEO class needs to be eliminated from the upper stratus of society. If you think monetary donations to Mozilla aren't worth it as a result, I get it, and I'm right there with you. I don't donate money. But also... In the browser space if money is what you want to donate, it might be the best route.
Some of it does. But currently a lot of it doesn't because they can rely on the google funding. You can also donate volunteering time to Mozilla projects you want to support like Firefox or Thunderbird
The lesson is never trust any corporation ever. A lot of people fell for their schtick and feel stuck now. The cohort of users on this fediverse platform are gonna trend towards more anti-corporate and more tech savvy. The best thing we can be right now is gracious towards those realizing a titch too late how fucked everything is
There's a lot of deluded people who really think leaving twitter is the same as leaving the country, only letting the powers that be harm the most marginalized groups, not realizing that the cost of leaving twitter for mastodon is INFINITELY lower than the cost of leaving America. Most of the most marginalized left twitter in the first wave, meaning those deluded folks are just the kinds of people the Nazis already associated with: people who are more okay with Nazis than they should be, frequently referred to using the term "Nazi"
There's a big difference between "no one" and "no one worth associating with", isn't there?
I'm looking forward to more piefed and Sublinks traction
