I think there's an xkcd for that topic... ๐

(/s in case it is not blatantly obvious)
Thank you for the feedback. Frankly I wasn't certain what all would be auto-populated from the video and did not want everything to be duplicated - this is my first post from this account and while the second for Lemmy overall, the first again for a video link, and to this community.
I edited the post from the old body of "This Video Will Make You Angry, by CGP Grey" to now:
A video titled "This Video Will Make You Angry", by CGP Grey, about how memes evolve in the same manner as living organisms, though in this case those most successful tend to be the ones that engender anger in their target audience.
Anyway, it's a 9-year-old video, and yet one that I had not seen from him before somehow, though certainly the concept has made the rounds. Even so I found it interesting, and in light of the upcoming election season (in the USA and world-wide) thought it might be worth sharing:-).
How "meta" then that CGP Grey chose to use a click-baity title to talk about why people use click-bait content:-).
I am starting to come around if not to the horrible solutions then at least the shift in thinking that made people consider using those, over the old-school approach.
Back then, the internet was this cool new thing. Fast-forward to today, and all those old pages with broken links, outdated information, and outdated presentation of information, can be problematic. e.g., should a site show an email address, or a phone number, or will doing so allow it to be spammed by bots? (except: that will happen anyway, no matter what, and why prevent people who have legitimate needs to find information?)
Back then, people had actual attention spans, and finding new information was cool, so when people saw it, they gobbled it up and relished the chance to do so. Fast-forward to today though, and there is so much more information (& unfortunately misinformation, plus active disinformation too) than could ever hope to be read, much less absorbed and/or retained, that the default is to skim or skip rather than actually "read", e.g. a ToS/ToC that is mandatory to continue with a service that you use literally daily.
So, I am not advocating for e.g. CSS, or React/Angular, etc., but I at least see why people were considering those options, b/c there were problems with the old approach too.
Hrm... are you so sure that it does not? :-P
Maybe don't over-do it trying to "stop" it - that stuff drips for a reason? Like, where else is it going to go?
I would actually suggest going the other direction and like drink a bunch of hot drinks to try to let more come out, especially at a time of your choosing (first: inhale the steam, then: drink, repeat as desired). I would guess that once whatever is up in there that is causing the irritation gets flushed out, it may stop?
Whereas I wonder if blocking it could lead to a sinus infection? Your body is trying to help you, so it is generally best to help rather than hinder that process, unless you really truly do know better - though speaking of, I am not a doctor, it's just thoughts.:-)
Usually, unless you happen to be really strong on some aspect. It's like how Google will "find things" - sometimes it does, as it tries to sell crap:-D.
The other responder already had some good points, but I will add: not so much directly but yeah, indirectly they can help you especially to relate to other people.
e.g. ~~let's say that you are an extrovert~~ (except this is Lemmy so uh...:-P) let's say that you are an introvert, and wherever you fall on that spectrum, some extrovert sees a confused look on your face and just won't shut the fuq up about the matter - they are relentless too, and you just want to walk away. THEY need to learn that when talking to an introvert, they need to shut the hell up, and allow the other person to digest what has already been said. Repetition, even using different words/scenarios/analogies/etc. makes the matter worse, not better.
While YOU as the introvert here may benefit from knowing that they legit were trying to help - that's how they are, when they get confused, they talk MORE, rather than less (insert Unix CLI pun here:-D). It's just their natural bent, reinforced over time in however they were raised, and not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, b/c when directed at another fellow extrovert it could be fantastic. This may give you the freedom to say SHUT UP AND LET ME THINK - which ironically the other person, being an extrovert, may likely love how you are thus being so open about your needs.
Either way, it's good to know about this dynamic of how relationships work, across the varying spectrums of the different aspects of personality traits. Knowledge is Power - use it wisely:-).
None really work, generally, but all try to make you think about the various factors involved and how other people might approach things differently from you, which is why they can be helpful:-).
Not technically no, though neither does it fully embrace the spirit of FOSS either. Anyway I was explaining the appearance of those two being at odds with one another in the meme. Anyone who does not enjoy meme content can simply block this community and move on with the serious side of life.:-)
Tell that to Google...
Tbf, when this post was first made, the article was not linked and instead it was just a link to the picture. So... this is one time that not reading it made sense!:-P
