I like how my music DAW (bitwig) does it. You buy your lifetime license with one year of updates. After the year is up you keep the latest version you have and it keeps working "forever". If you decide you want another year of updates you get a discount. I usually don't need new functions so I let it lapse, I bought the updates once because there was a function I wanted.

It's even becoming an over the table tactic. For example you can use software like Fusion360 or unreal engine completely free until your business is over a certain revenue threshold.

Don't, the quality will not only be terrible but more importantly, inconsistent.
If you're not concerned about paying for the music then torrent it either in flac/wav or at minimum 320kbps MP3.
You'll thank yourself soon enough when you have a library of high quality tunes that you can play on any system (formatting/conversion of library might be necessary).
If you want to go legal then bandcamp is the place to be.
