Yes it's another example of something similar, but again, with the vastly different times, cultures, technological capabilities, and legal frameworks, I'd argue that relevance is largely nonexistent or the connection between the two attenuated to the point that any similarities are largely useless for comparison and irrelevant when discussing the issue in the current context.

Yes, but this is a thread about UK trying to criminalize dissent in 2020s. What the US did hundred+ years ago is wholly irrelevant to the discussion of UK policy in modern times imo.

Objection, relevance.

It's not a conspiracy at all. It's 100% driven by real estate and city tax incentives for office population and commerce traffic boosts to nearby businesses which the city has incentives to try and enforce

Local hardware stores are a must. And if you find a good one where they know what they're talking about you can get a lot of great advice depending on the project you're working on.

Tell the truth? What truth do you see yourself as being the arbiter of here?

I watch it during lunch sometimes and have kept up with every episode so far. Its not what it was of course back in the day, but I largely use it as semi- background while eating lunch, knowing that if I have to cut things short or divert my attention it won't matter.

Oh we can, those corporations choose not to. The stadium owner has an incentive to ac the stadium since a more pleasant temperature is likely to attract and please most customers. Amazon is working with a captured market and people who, alone and individually, don't have any power. From Amazon's perspective and a capitalist viewpoint they're doing the most legally required to continue to make profit. They don't have an incentive to change as people continue to buy their products and the government refuses to step in and help exploited workers, even going to far as to ignore the blatant union busting from Amazon and others when the individuals do try to group together and assert leverage.

Neolibs pissed at the commies for coming into their communities and talking shit, commies pissed at neolibs for calling out their troll behavior in newly federated instances and doubling down on it. Mix it with new fed users who are still not quite sure how federation works or what it means, sprinkle in different blocking abilities depending on app of choice and you've got Tuesday in the fediverse.

Meanwhile they're all missing amazing content and niche communities like the raccoon community and the diy home automation project community, to name a few of my favorites.

Absolutely! As long as the Jets don't get a sniff at the AFC title I'm happy 😜
