There is demand for their cars, how would that change through more efficient manufacturing? Remember demand drives price.

However, withing a few decades probably every mamjfacturer will adopt this technique, which will enable them to ask for less to drives sales. Then all manufacturers will have to reduce prices.

What a nothingburger of an article.... not even mentioning the fermi paradox. No actual new information and whatever do they want to say when they talk about "radically changing the way we think about the search for life in the universe"?!

Funny how George Hotz of Comma.ai predicted this exact same issue years ago: "if I were Elon Musk I would not have shipped that lane change".

This issue likely arises as the cars sensors can not look "far enough ahead" on the lane it changes to. Which can lead to crashes from behind due to much faster cars and in this case lane confusion aa the car can not see oncoming traffic.
