Part of the problem with security is they even when it's legitimate, it acts like the scammers.

I've seen restaurants where their (legitimate) QR code is clearly printed on a home printer and used in lieu of physical menus in order to save money. If the link changes, they will simply tape the new one on top of the old, even on the most official copy you can find.

You are technically correct (the best kind of correct), but we all know that he meant UTP cable such as cat6 with 8p8c connectors.

.... Why?

Nothing against Serbia, but the article lists absolutely no reasons for Woz to do this, aside from pointing out that it wasn't a paid gig. Does he support the policies of one party in Serbia? Does he have heritage or family there? Looking to start a business?

This whole thing is awfully light on the details, and feels a lot like general celebrity endorsements of "XXX was seen using YYY"

I can assure you that Microsoft already purchases a ton of Macs. They develop software for Mac and iOS, after all.

Business/Enterprise printers too, at least some of them....

Get them a nicer version of things they already get. Fancy coffee, hot sauces, soap, candles, pens, that sort of thing. It loses some of its charm, but that could also mean a gift card to a nicer restaurant. Just make sure it's enough to cover the meal.

This works especially well if they're pretty cheap and wouldn't get things like that, simply because they're too expensive.

You can also go for some very pseudo-luxury items. Vermont Maple syrup (or Maple candies - seriously, it's just crystalized sugar, but it seems so rich), sausage and cheese sets, chocolate oranges...

Finally, here's the biggest tip - Don't wait until December to think about it. Pay attention through the year. They will almost certainly mention something offhand to you. A passing comment like "we never have enough -----" or "---- never works right" are perfect opportunities. Just make a note on your phone. Feel free to ask probing questions and even tell them that's what you're doing- if it's before Halloween, they'll almost certainly forget by Xmas anyway.

Think back to the pre-COVID days. If management told you that your office was closing, and that you now had to report to a different office an hour away, would you be so dismissive?

This is pretty well established as Constructive Dismissal - a material change in work conditions that makes continued employment unbearable. Depending on the details, this could be seen as a layoff (if they close the office in Texas and tell you there's a job waiting for you in Florida, that counts as a layoff)

This is known as The Dead Sea Effect.

That was my line of thinking. However, my subdomain.chickenkiller.com frequently (but but universally) resolves to the IP of regular chickenkiller.com. I don't believe it's an issue with my config, since my previous domains (not run by josh) worked just fine until they folded.

The reason there's such a pushback against them is because they've become popular. It used to be a secret amongst nerds; now it's common even on the iPhone.

It's also not like this snuck up on them. Governments around the world warned them very clearly that they had to get onto a standard. Apple dragged their feet the entire time, fighting it at every opportunity, until it went into law.

I don't know what India's law says, but I suspect it boils down to "All phones sold as new after XXXX date must have a USB-C charger". Apple has the choice to modify the older/cheaper designs, or to stop selling them in that market.

Presumably they are in an area that requires armored cable, such as Chicago
