Because it's been used that way in English to refer to people living in a specific region (now the US) since the 17th century. Now non-native English speakers are trying to force a change and (rather hilariously) have started taking offense to it. Really must be a blessed life if that's something worth bitching about.

This right here is why I love lemmy. Thank you for sharing, especially because you have such specific knowledge/experience. I listened to both your recommendations, and they were great. They both invoke a lot of emotion, I can see how he caused a stir, lol.

I'm going to see if there's some modern concerts of this man's work when I get home from the bar. He had to compose some absolute fire to cause that reaction in his era.

It depends on how much content you're looking for. You can't get the "infinite scroll" like you could on reddit, the user base just isn't there. The closest you can get is browsing all, but it's still limited. Search for communities based on your interests and then follow the communities that seem most active, as there will likely be duplicates. I left reddit last year when they killed the apps. I will say two things about my transition to lemmy: One, the content I do get is more tailored and specific. Two, I spend less time attached to my phone because new content isn't pouring in by the second. I view these as positives.

Imagine being from the UK and complaining about someone else "forcing" anything on you. Lmao.

I learned that I'm essentially trapped in my country without massive amounts of money or a rare skill set. I have neither. I'll just have to ride the fascist wave out if they succeed.

While I wouldn't advise being in dumpsters at all, if you're going to do so, I can make a few recommendations based on my experiences in dumpsters.

  1. Bring a ladder of sufficient height inside with you. You might need two to retrieve the ladder inside.

  2. Be fully clothed, ideally in puncture resistant clothing. Minimum that should be puncture resistant is footwear and gloves.

  3. Wear an N95 or better. Beyond bacteria, viruses, and mold spores, it will protect you against small particulates.

  4. Chemical resistant clothing is also advised.

  5. Be very aware of not only where you step but also the rest of your body in relation to everything around you. Dumpsters can be very slick.

I really advise against this endeavor if you can avoid it. Not only are there significant hazards in the act itself, but there ar additional hazards that you might not be able to detect when consuming items you find in a dumpster. Even if it's marked for food only, many people disregard the designations of dumpsters.

Doesn't work with streaming services. They eventually detect it and refuse to play anything until you fix it. I had to let hulu through my network block of advertising.

Just vibe, don't ball. We don't want that unpleasant high energy shit. Feel me?

Depending on your activities, 1 month is about the lifespan of a burner anyway.

I can understand that. Thank you for expanding on it.
