This Medium article is poorly sourced.

The NYT article is from 2021.

The oft-repeated idea that Iran supplies the majority of Hamas weapons is also poorly sourced. It is usually attributed to the CIA's World Factbook or former US generals who now are talking heads for think tanks. These sources are highly biased.

But one thing that has been well documented is the Hamas unexploded ordinance team. They have over a decade of experience disarming and retrieving Israeli bombs from Gazan homes and businesses.

Civil war? Not even close.

Outright corruption? Business interests have always ruled the country, this is not new.

The bigger picture is that America is the most violent country since Nazi Germany. No other country comes close to our death toll. We spend $1trillion each year on violence and weapons- and those bombs must be dropped, because we need a reason to spend >$1trillion next year.

Imagine the returns if that wealth was invested in education and healthcare instead of yachts and empty luxury housing.

Depends how you measure "safety".

Here in the US life expectancy is declining.

I can't afford a home, healthcare, or retirement. My parents generation could.

Climate change is doing significant damage, and it's just getting started.

But yeah, I'm less likely to be murdered. I got that going for me, which is nice.
