They are not going to let a random retail investor naked short an IPO on the IPO day. There's no way you will be able to exit your trade fast enough if it rockets up (in minutes). You actually need to tell the brokerage about your trading experience to be approved for riskier assets and trades.

If you are approved, you will probably need to wait beyond the IPO date. It's too volatile.

No there really isn't. The Navy and Air Force are full of people who love flying. Even people who can fly but don't qualify to be fighter pilots. They work on planes, design them, or fly transport planes.

Usually the jobs outside the military pay better (cybersecurity, IT, etc.). Flying commercial isn't that much better because of the hours. Imagine having better hours in the military and a better retirement package after 20 years. That's why there's not enough pilots.

  • Scofflaw - Why does the person in the self-driving car care? They're just chilling. Zooming ahead of other cars doesn't get you more than a few minutes ahead. If that's really important to you, you should have left your house a few minutes earlier.

  • Scammer - These cars are covered in cameras and radars. These are the opposite of the cars you want to jump in front of (except Tesla, which sucks). They'll probably just film you launching yourself from the curb and stop before they hit you. I guess you can get on America's Funniest Home Videos?

The entire modern Marvel and Starwars franchises owe themselves to reddit.

Yeah, Star Wars was a complete unknown before Reddit. And Disney is not a marketing behemoth that put their full weight behind the new movies. Reddit neckbeards and bots are the real taste makers.

Their motivation is more important than what they're doing. But right now their motivation is to compete with Twitter. The Fediverse is no threat to them because it's tiny.

Everything is limited. Even "all you can eat" restaurants.

Yes, if you're going off-road like that. Apparently these "trucks" also don't have assist points to pull them from. Notice the straps are hooked to the front suspension or something.

From the actual bill: https://intelligence.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=1323

The bill enhances accountability for FBI and other government officials who fail to comply with the laws and rules governing FISA. For example, the bill:

  • Holds FBI executive leaders accountable for FISA non-compliance, including by withholding promotions or compensation.
  • Ensures accountability for FBI employees who conduct noncompliant U.S. person queries, including zero tolerance for willful misconduct and escalating consequences for unintentional non-compliance.
  • Creates new specific criminal liability and administrative penalties and increases existing penalties for government officials who engage in a range of intentional misconduct related to FISA, such as leaking FISA-derived information or making a false declaration before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

Well this kid also thinks that most people on the Internet in the early 2000s were using FOSS and Linux. He doesn't know what's going on.

People were mostly using email the way we use social media: sending pictures, dumb chain emails, chatting. Instead of Instagram, you would just go to the comment section of a magazine or newspaper and post your inane ramblings there.

The funny thing is, we already have super intelligent people walking around. Do they manipulate everyone into killing each other? No, because we have basic rules like "murder is bad" or just "fraud is bad".

Super intelligent computers would probably not even bother with people because they would be created with a purpose like "develop new physics" or "organize these logistics". Smart people are smart enough to not break the rules because the punishment is not worth it. Smart computers will be finding aliens or something interesting.
