Great news to be honest. I hope disney sees a similar spike in profits so they can make more great shows for me to pirate.

Look, no hate, but I always find these kinds of comments funny because I've been reading them for over twenty years.

It's not going to happen, certainly not in any significant numbers.

Hell, look at the fediverse. The vast majority of internet users find signing up to mastodon hard, let alone lemmy. How the hell are these people supposed to install linux, for example when they follow many an 'easy' linux installation guide, but then find Rufus isn't able to create a bootable USB stick in fat32? How are they supposed to verify their data, or hell change the bios settings when the guide they read gives them the wrong key to press to enter the bios? And then if by some miracle they do manage to install linux, you expect them to move away from all the apps they've grown used to? They'll try to install MS office on linux and blame this not working on linux.

TLDR: Gretchen! Stop trying to make mass linux adoption happen! It's not going to happen!

Used condoms are great for moisturising bunions.

My sock collection is worth 10k.

I went in to Sephora and people complimented me on my socks.

Consensual?

I'll take one for the team. Dress in a string bikini, hairy man ass hanging out, slap on some lipstick, kiss Donald Trump during a live press briefing and make it super sensual. Make it seem like we're lovers. "You're my...." look at cameras "best friend.... I... I... love you." run away weeping That could cost him a few thousand votes, which might be enough to swing the election if they're in a key district.

Or Angela Merkel. She has a twinkle in her eye.

Tip of the iceberg: I'm a carer for an elderly parent, the other one is terminally ill and long estranged, my sibling has his own (mental-) health issues, and despite being well educated I am terminally unemployed with a CV that's more gap than employment. I am past 40. In many ways it is too late for me to get my life on track. I power on, but I gave up a long time ago, it hurts less than having dreams. My current pension plan is a rope. Money would make my life better, but there are people who are far more deserving.

What could you do? Vote for progressive parties, politicians that are in favour of affordable healthcare, decent social security, social housing and perhaps even UBI.

Don't do this for some random stranger on the internet. Do this for yourself.

There's this myth that the homeless are all lazy, mentally ill or drug addicts. That the unfortunate deserve their misfortune. That you reap what you sow. It's a comforting lie. Bad things happen to good people all the time. Life is not fair. You can do your best and still lose.

The reality is that plenty of homeless people have (hard science) degrees, are highly intelligent, worked really hard only to find their pension had been stolen from them, were otherwise ripped off, or got ill and couldn't afford the bills. This could happen to you. Statistically, it is likely that this will happen to someone reading this.

Vote accordingly and realise that those less fortunate than you, could be you 6 months from now, through no fault of your own or that a stupid mistake could leave you in the gutter.

Meh. Lime mortar absorbs and releases moisture. IRC "Roman" lime concrete is much the same.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan, but that kind of thing isn't compatible with modern insulation. You end up with damp and mould issues in the walls.

Sure it works great in uninsulated stuff though. But people and governments want every room in a building to be insulated nowadays. The whole one warm room, the rest of the building is cold and you'd better wear a three piece suit or heavy wool jumper thing, is abhorrent to our spoiled western arses.

Also: the Romans didn't build their buildings that high. AFAIK Lime concrete has lower tensile and compressive strength, which is an issue with high rise buildings.

Thousands of years, to be exact.

Prime games too, although I've noticed they offer less GOG games than they once did, and I refuse to install their app on my pc.

In my defense prime is very cheap in my country, because they haven't crushed the competition yet.
