"Sounds like I left the fridge open."

Seriously, I can hear that beep anywhere in the house.

  • remote preheat for the oven (ready to pop the frozen pizza in right when I walk in the door)

Most ovens these days have a sort of time delay feature so you can set it to turn on X hours from now. Though I will admit it's more convenient not to have to estimate what time you're gonna be home at. Still, there are definitely alternatives to using an internet-connected over.

  • cycle end notification for the washer (when I'm in the basement I can't hear the sound to know when to move the clothes to the dryer)

I already know my washing machine takes almost exactly 30 minutes to finish after I turn on the water. I just set a timer on my phone for that amount of time.

I recently bought a new computer (left the old one in my car by mistake, and the outdoor heat caused the plastic casing to expand) and moved all my old files over to the new one. Somehow, it ended up sticking a bunch of my files (Desktop, Documents, etc.) in my OneDrive (which was setup without any confirmation that I'd like to use it). I had to create a brand new profile that wasn't linked to a Microsoft account on my brand new computer and move everything over just to fix the issue.

i can't believe people pay for it.

To be fair, barring the purchase of a brand new computer, they haven't been. Not since Windows 10 released in 2015.

No problem. And all you need to do, really, is put a space between the link and the parenthese.

I looked it up. They discontinued allowing businesses to post vehicles on Facebook Marketplace.

My Lemmy app doesn't like that parenthese. Fixed link in case anyone else is affected: https://xkcd.com/327/

That's why they're blocking the friend posts! So they can give you more ads!

I thought they discontinued selling cars there?

Apple got its own EU internet browser ruling to deal with recently: https://www.theregister.com/2023/11/02/apple_safari_browser/

Wasn't its engine basically just an updated Internet Explorer engine, though?

I just set my default browser and install MSEdgeRedirect. It's like EdgeDeflector, except it's not been abandoned. Its latest version even "grounds CoPilot", as the dev so nicely put it.
