Well and being a snob about it doesn't help. If all the average joe knows about AI is what google or openAI pushed to corporate media, that shouldn't be where the conversation ends.

This is basically how I feel about it. Capital is ruining the value this tech could have. But I don't think it's dangerous and I think the open source community will do awesome stuff with it, quietly, over time.

Edit: where AI can be used to scan faces or identify where people are, yeah that's a unique new danger that this tech can bring.

I've heard the call

There are Unitarian churches and similar places of worship that don't allow this bigotry.

I don't want AI trained on pirated works 'found' by scrubbing the entire internet.

I wonder who is doing this voting? Oh, it's people who live in the areas we can't afford to live in. And capitalists add lobbying power to those voters selfish interests.

Neoliberalism is agnostic to the form of government so long as profit keeps moving. Business is still done in the worst countries. And that keeps capital voting with their wallets for an increase in evil.
