Forums themselves are the answer IMO, there's plenty of posts in tech specific places where people who are not paid journalists are posting their takes and even full on stories. They are often paid professionals in that they work a tech job, but they aren't necessarily journalists, they're just regular posters.

People on Mbin and Kbin do not automatically upvote their own posts. I would guess at least some of those posts were because of that.
