This is the part of the decentralized "Gig economy" model that no one seems to have a good answer for, how do you filter out bad actors or even known threats without an organization calling the shots?

I think the answer is pretty simple, honestly. Have an organization whose purpose is just to filter out bad actors and maintain the technology. Just don't be greedy or heirarchal about it. The tech staff gets paid from a small percentage from the providers.

Should be easy, right? Right??!?

And there's this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieDetails/comments/leecbe/alien_1979_and_bladerunner_1982_have_identical/

There's also some commentary from Ridley Scott, one of the displayed replicant body designs in 2049 is clearly an Engineer, and I believe a billboard for Weyland in one of the Blade Runners, but I can't find that screenshot so maybe I'm misremembering that one.

Most of it is Easter Egg level stuff but there's enough that it's canon if you want it to be. Or not.

Really, the biggest takeaway I learned from this connection hunt back in the day was that the Blade Runner humanity had multiple colonies on other planets, which was just not something I remembered being a thing from the movies.

They started as humanoids, which is not the same thing as being humans.

(But they were the sci-fi trope of aliens being blue humans)

That's what their marketing team decided to say.

Then they decided to pay people for activity.

I tried reading a selection of some male-targeted romance/erotica once. About a quarter of it was genuinely good, half of it just hated women, and the remainder was like "she was hot and had huge boobs." Those last two were 50/50 themselves on whether I believed the author had ever touched a boob. Less if you only count consensually. And obviously harems were just fucking everywhere and personality beyond breast size was optional.

It occurs to me I never read any gay/bi romance, maybe it's better over there, but the point is:

I understand your viewpoint, at least in regards to some extreme kinks, but pls no

Cybernetics (or technology in general) are both the hope of humanity and its likely doom through abuse by powerful interests.

Technically the Blade Runner universe is the Aliens universe too, so, don't worry, it will get worse.

What was fun was seeing children turning coughing on people into an actual game

And my parents wonder why I'm determined to end this cursed line

You were lied to by capitalists with willing and eager help from the news empires.

I'm sure that's the only time that ever happened.
