I take a lot of that mold work with a figurative grain of salt. I'll confess I'm not familiar with the aspergillus literature, but stachybotrys risks are way overblown. The concerns are driven by courts rather than the medical literature.

The last time I had a deep dive into it there was a single case of stachybotrys poisoning which occurred when a farmhand fell into a silo of moldy hay. He had a complete recovery within 10 days. That ~~was~~ deep dive was 15 years ago so maybe something else has come up?

All of these molds are present in the environment. If you spend any time hiking in the woods or around hay or barns you are exposed to reasonably high levels.

The black mold people are concerned about in buildings is stachybotrys. They type species is stachybotrys atrum. Totally different mold.

Coincidentally that's the year I finished grad school and was probably at the peak of my tech savviness. Things have changed a lot since then. On all fronts.

I've been out of it. What do we call "Master" and "Slave " drives now?

It was. Because he felt like a creep buying lingerie for his wife at department stores.

What I find funny is that everything she sings about has nothing to with older men in Ohio, but everything to do with female designers and gay stylists on the coasts.

I was in the field for years. A lot of the mice we had were maintained with one copy of the gene of interest and crossbred to produce experimental litters (there are a lot of reasons for it, some technical, some practical). But OMG the numbers of mice we went through just to maintain the lines. Forget about failed experiments etc.

"I'd like my daily ration today". Sounds bitchy like that.

Coined by John Koenig about 10 years ago. Upthread there are other options that have in the language for much longer. I did not expect to start my day as the grumpy-conservative-language-originalist-crank. 😄
