You missed the (and doing it properly) part. Could you do it on his setup? sure. Could you do it on your setup recommendations? Sure. Could you do it on a little raspberry pi? Probably. A industry standard best practice for backup is 3-2-1. Do all companies follow industry best practices? Heavens no. Redundancy is great, it may save you from calling someone at triple rates for after hours support only to find your one 48 port switch failed. It's all about what risk you are willing to take on any of this.

I'm not sure if I was clinically depressed or not. But I definitely went through a couple months where I wasn't feeling myself. My GF moved in with me this year and I thought it was just me adjusting with a new "roommate".
I eventually realized it was the house. It was a mess and that was what making me feel depressed because it was hard to talk to someone about being a slob if you loved them.
So I guess maybe think hard about things that have changed and when you were happy and see what you can do to change them?
I know it's probably not great advice but it's free and it worked for me
I mean yes, but one of the issuess with "state of the art av" is they are trying to roll out updates faster than bad actors can push out code to exploit discovered vulnerabilities.
The code/config/software push may have worked on some test systems but MS is always changing things too.
I would rather not assume someone is just out to troll. I'm sure in a life-threatening circumstance, they could do any of the lines you listed.
But if they don't have to and could just pay a little more for someone delivering it oh well. Will they pay through the nose for the convenience? Sure. Is it still a lot of money for the convenience? Yes.
Given how active flying squid is I don't think he is just out here intentionally trolling. I could be wrong.
To OPs defense, i didn't put 1 and 1 together until you spelled it out either. Wouldn't have crossed my mind that the smell in an enclosed space would bother you.
Regardless of the rest i hope your daughter enjoyed her treat!
Very much this. I dislike M$ as much as the next guy but it isn't always their fault. The biggest reason we have outdated SQL in my experience is older software that clients do not want to pay for an upgrade for that uses a sql backend that will break if we have the databases in compatibility mode.
Just like M$ with good reason (mostly) end of life's an OS they need to no longer mainstream support older software versions.
In the response posts to the article someone said they got the icloud address via reset request which you can use in iMessage.
Not an i phone person so i can't verify but thought id pass that along.
You also see this sort of thing about cops. I just learned ACAB, all cops are bastards, today. Which I'm getting increasingly tired of. When you try having a discussion with people they are just as stuck in their ways as the right and don't realize it.
Do i think all cops are saints no. But demonizing entire jobs/professions/whatever right wrong or indifferent is the same reason i stopped watching some news. All doom and gloom.
In my career i have gone from Systems Engineer to professional services to Profesional services team lead to Senior Systems administrator to now just Systems administrator. All doing basically the same IT stuff at progressively higher levels other than the team lead part.
When i was looking for my last job i applied for a remote admin job and experienced exactly what you described. I was on the third interview and was asked when i was going to move to the area and if i wanted a relocation allowance as part of the offer. Uhh what? To them a remote admin was an administrator that went to remote sites. What a waste of my time
I use my blanket as a cloak all the time lol
Windows server license and CALs... don't forget that extra little cost just because from MS
That's my job title.
