Once again, one of the very rare few areas where ai isn't a completely shitty solution: tasks that are worthwhile and important, but that require labor no one is willing to pay for.

Others include translation, transcription, and image descriptions. Things people won't put resources into but that should happen anyway

The only problem is that these have nothing to do with why massive companies are investing in this tech. If AI didn't enable the equivalent of money laundering for intellectual labor, the billionaires wouldn't give a shit

Thank you for correcting me, I was mistaken.

If I understand corectly, he was appointed Chancellor by the Paul Von Hindenberg who won the 1932 election that Hitler had also run in, and rose to power as the successor to von Hindenburg after Hindenburg died in 1934

I've edited my original comment

Interesting, that wasn't my understanding, looks like I need to go learn some more about that and see if I was mistaken

Thanks :)

Edit: I was mistaken that Hitler was elected, thank you to Sem who corrected me below. Hitler ran for office but lost, and was appointed to chancellor by the winner Paul von Hindenburg. When von Hindenberg died a year after Hitler was appointed to chancellor, Hitler succeeded him and abolished the office of president and declared himself Furher und Reichskanzler

I think it's pretty important that people are willing to grapple with the fact that people will gladly buy into hatred and fascism when a charismatic populist sells it to them as the ails of their people.

Hitler was elected*. If we want to avoid the mistakes of the past, we have to be willing to confront the reality of how they happened in the first place. Hitler spoke to real fears and anxieties people had, and promised things they truly wanted, like a great nation they could take national pride in once again.

God, what a beautiful little machine

Thank you for sharing op!

You opt in by following the bridgy fed account for your platform, so for Mastodon that'd be: https://bsky.brid.gy/bsky.brid.gy

There's one on each platform, and when you follow it it'll create you a bluesky/mastodon counterpart and send you the link to that bridged account

No, not unless the person whose posts you want to see opted into bridging their account.

If both parties bridge their accounts they can follow eachother, or if one person bridges their account others can follow them.

I don't think you can see boosts of stuff not on your platform though, and I don't know how interacting with a bridged account works if both of you are bridged. If only the person you're following is bridged they definitely won't see it, but I don't know if that changes if you're both bridged

I'd assume a lot of people just don't participate as much as they used to, even if they still use Reddit, and other people probably just gave it up or use other traditional social media instead 🤷‍♂️

Yep. Thats true. Its also likely not as true for the population that is here.

I did not vote for a fascist. I did vote. I am an American. And I am not a fascist.

I guess all that comes next is learning how to protest. I've never been to one before due to social anxiety and my sleep disorder. I guess now is the time to learn how to participate in one.

No one deserves to be insulted for their nationality.

I wasn't in that thread, but that's not an appropriate way for folks to treat eachother

Also, Americans are grieving what may be legitimately the end of vital freedoms, the end of safety for many minority populations, which many of my loved ones belong to, potentially the end of free elections, and an independent court.

It also may mean the complete derailment of any global climate policies as the US steps back from climate commitments, which may prompt other super powers to do the same. That is not a good thing.

Some space to grieve would be welcome. If you live in Russia you have my love and my condolences, I'm sure you have been living with anxieties about your interests not being represented for a long time.

Bigtime

is an awesome newer car and motorcycle channel, they split off from donut to go do their own creative stuff after donut go bought by a big soulless media company

Fortnine

is an amazing motorcycle youtube channel with absurd production quality and directing often worthy of full length documentaries

Berm peak

is a super well produced mountain biking and bikes channel

Lab Muffin Beauty Science

If you're into science based skincare I absolutely adore her, she has a chemistry PhD and a specialization in cosmetic chemistry. She spends a lot of time debunking baseless skincare marketing which I don't really need since everything I know about skincare I learned from her and various other science focused youtubers, but I absolutely adore her informative videos that are guides to various aspects of skincare, or an exploration of how to competently interpret research

Adam savage's Tested

channel is a lot of fun if you like maker content, he's just as energetic and charismatic of a character as he was back on Mythbusters

Hybrid calisthenics

is a wonderful exercise fitness and wellness channel where the guy running it is just an earnest, kind, compassionate human being who offers advice that meets people where they are and helps them progress, regardless of their current ability level. He went viral a while back for a video talking about how you can do exercise at any level, even if you've literally never done a pushup in your life, where he demonstrates modified versions of bodyweight exercises that make them more accessible, or even more difficult so that people can work their way up to their goals from any starting point. People fell in love with his personality and attitude of compassion.

My absolute favorites for cooking are:

Adam Ragusea

does an amazing job of making recipes realistic and approachable for home cooking, and his background as a journalist results in incredibly high quality research videos that are unbelievably informative

internet shaquille

unprotentious while focusing on technique, has a fantastic delivery style, it's hard to describe exactly what makes him special, but the videos are phenomenal and he often gives great life advice

J Kenji Lopez alt

the goat. Super knowledgable, especially regarding the science of cooking, and is a well respected name in recipe development. His videos are him with a gopro camera strapped to his head while he prepares the food and talks about it's origin, how he likes to make it, etc. Its like having an expert demonstrate for you in their home kitchen while casually chatting about all the knowledge they have to share about a given recipe

Chinese cooking demystified

the absolute best source for traditional chineese cooking, and food history lessons to boot. I love their delivery style, and their videos always give a ton of historical and cultural context and are a joy to watch)

Lemme know if you'd like more food youtubers, these are my absolute faves though, and all offer very different perspectives on food (sometimes disagreeing with eachother) while usually teaching at least as much about technique, how to approach cooking, and their own personal philosophy when developing recipes as they do the specific recipe itself.

Brian David Gilbert

makes a wide range of bizarre nonsense and I adore him. Comedy sketches, horror short film kinda stuff, incomprehensible fever-dreams, a guide to the united states health insurance mess that somehow manages to be as funny as it is depressing, goofy music, unironically wonderfull music, recipies. He used to make polygon's unhinged video series called unraveled, his personal channel is even better and even more unhinged
