Keeping in mind the DSM used the word retarded until DSM V came out in 2013.

Another history fact around the DSM is that homosexuality was a mental disability but that was removed way back in 1974 and society didn't shift as quickly with it as it has now.

The issue with retard is that it is describing an actual medical condition and swapping the word isn't going to change that.

A rockstar developer doesn't churn out unmaintainable, by definition.

The number of people who think they are rockstar developers but clearly aren't is probably close to the number of cover bands who see themselves as undiscovered rockstars.

I've worked with people like this, their best hope is to fail upwards into management.

The only way to know if you are competent coder is for other coders to tell you. If none are telling you, your imposter syndrome isn't.

There are other signs as well but these aren't taught in formal education. An example being the ability to recognize how your old code could be improved. The way requirements stack over time makes this a certainty in any product.

Tech papers are not anecdotal.

You will never regret or acknowledge the error.

Enjoy your hill.

Cool. Every tech paper I've read has said how terrible their hearing aids are compared to AirPods, so your anecdote is meaningless.

Also, did that hearing aid retail for under $300?

You would rather be indirectly gouged by a no-name brand that creates an inferior one-off product than buy an Apple product.

This is the hill you chose and no amount of government healthcare can save you from it.

Fuck Everything, We're Doing Five Folds.

That's sounds mostly correct.

His relative also admitted their involvement and flipped on him which destroyed the narrow avenue he had to throw out the original evidence for the warrant.

Of course we only ever hear the cases of people who get caught. If he relative hadn't gotten lazy he may never have been caught.

The lesson there is not to involve other people.

It sounds like he created material, not only AI but actual children then distributed it. The tools to track down the creators of CASM is only getting better.

A single legal image of any of those children posted to social media is going to allow algorithms to make the match and its routine detective work from there.

It only takes one child to talk. No amount of encryption is going to stop that.

I haven't had a problem.

iPhone with Screen time and communication limits means I can control how much time they spend in the device and in which apps and I control who they can contact.

Don't approve any apps that allow social features.

Talk to them about the realities of the internet and the wider world.

All of this has to happen at some point. If you just hand off a phone to an 11 year old or even a 14 year old workout doing any of the above, you're still going to have issues.

Much of what is being said about tech is the same as was said about tv and video games. The only studies you're going to hear about this are the ones that confirm the societal biases.

If you don't seek counter opinions of this topic you're playing into the same fear mongering every generation of parents has had about the new thing.

Dancing, rock and roll, tv, video games, and now phones. Every time, everyone thinks this time is different and every time it hasn't been.

Commenter didn't say work. It's true in all circumstances.

You recognizing it as true in the work place by understanding women are expected to be like men in the work place. Because men are not expected to show emotions.

Your counter is actually an example.

Are you sure those home renovation workers weren't trying to make conversation, might even being bragging about their own project attempts and you being a women had nothing to do with how they interact with any other customer?

Your comments here are an example of double standard.

You are asking for men issues to stay in groups specific to that issue. Anyone who did the same for questions about women would be called a misogynist.
