We (me, spouse and 1 child) rent a big house with my grandmother who I care for. It's 4 bedroom/2 bath, got a kitchen, living room, laundry room, a large dining room and extra living room that used to be a garage. It's my parent's place, while they live in an apartment for work.

The huge place is not worth it. I hate taking care of my grandmother. She has dementia and I'm burned out but we can't afford to live anywhere else.

Isn't that already true? Internet is available for free at the library. The discouragement part is that you have to pay for it at home or on your phone

This is a wild take. There is value in privacy. There is value in quiet! There is value in space. Electricity efficiency isn't the only important thing!

So my ball was the ball from toy story on a round wooden kitchen table. Probably the table from my childhood home. So the ball is yellow with a blue stripe and a big red star. It has shading and a shadow. I switched it out for a golf ball, but that didn't seem right, so back to the bouncy ball from toy story, bigger than a baseball, smaller than a kickball. Because it's the ball from toy story, the young man pushing it is toy story animation style. I tried switching him out for a regular human, but it just seemed wrong so I couldn't. He goes with the ball.

I used to hate Miley Cyrus' music and her personality. Now I'm on board. I still don't love her, but I don't mind singing along when her music plays near me and I feel very neutral to even positive about her as a person. As far as child stars go she actually seems surprisingly normal and thoughtful.

That they were trying to train their toddler to sit at the table but having an issue because the toddler wants to give the dog the table food and the dog wants to get that food which knocks the toddler over because the toddler is just learning to sit at the table. They normally put the dog out no problem but the dog knows the toddler is at that table now so is extra motivated to be let back in. A short term thing, and they needed the toddler to be able to focus.

My neighbor texted me the one time they had their dog barking in the backyard for 10 min + with an explanation of why he was out there, and the offer to bring him back in if it was too noisy in our house. 10/10 great neighbor, and honestly made me not mind the barking at all

Yeah, people definitely don't understand that you can cut so much and bargain hunt the whole thing and still spend 15-20k. That's a"cheap" wedding. The average in my area is 33k. That's not because people are just spending frivolously and don't budget, that's because every single aspect of a wedding is expensive. Hell, tipping out the bar staff and photographer alone is expensive.

Skip it if you want, but even as a very frugal person, I'm very happy we had a huge party with lots of food and an open bar. It's worth it to spend money on life rites. Life rites are like half the point of being human!

If you don't care about celebrating with friends and family, don't spend the money, but for us sharing the day with the people we love and merging our families was important.

I think it's funny you used cheeseits as your example because that's one of the few things I won't buy generic of because they're just different. Little cookies, crackers, chips, and chocolates are usually brand specific in taste (though don't assume you prefer the name brand, you may prefer the generic!) so they're not fungible. I'd rather skip the calories than have generic cheeseits or Doritos.

The true answer is a bit embarrassing, but it's because my husband does our grocery shopping and he is bad with money. He will buy too much stuff because it's a "good deal" which just ends up costing more overall. I love him so much, and he has so many good qualities, but he's a real sucker for "deals" and that's all Costco is.

I'm using Costco pods and they are the best I've used. I don't pre rinse, I use it on old dishes. My dishes come out nice and clean. My sister cancelled her membership and now I have to find a new dishwasher pod dealer.

I just say it in my head to myself. It has had a near 100% success rate for the past year. I don't understand it, yet it works!
