I'm not talking about office drama. I'm talking about getting cornered by someone in an alley on the way back to your car from a ballgame, or whatever. If you can't run then you have two choices, you can fight, or be a victim. You're fortunate that you've never been placed in a situation that would have allowed you to understand the statement.

The kids are alright

In some ways. Not so much in other ways.

That's easy! None of them.

There are certain scenarios where it's not an urge to fight, it's a necessity. Be a victim, or fight. It sounds like your friends were commenting on that type of scenario. As a woman you've probably never considered fighting an option in those scenarios, which is why you've never thought about it.

This seems to depend on age and social circle. I'm very proud of my son's group of friends. They're considerably more emotionally supportive of each other than me and my friends ever were.

It's all in the tone and body language. I'm a middle aged man and I do this occasionally when someone looks really cool. I've never received any indication that they think I'm flirting with them, which I'm not.

I've seen The Prince of Egypt about a dozen times, and I love it each time.

AFAIK it has always been this way. I don't think I've been banned from an entire instance, but who knows? If I have, I wasn't told about it. Do they only allow interaction from people registered to their instance?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Dire Straights, On Every Street.

I can hear the amazing intro to this song just from reading the title.

Dark Necessities just came out a few years ago. Blood Sugar Sex Magic is still my favorite album from them, and that you can safely call older rock, although I'd categorize it more as funk.

We all know the outcome of the investigation into his island, with his eventual arrest and death. But what became of his staff? You don't run an operation that large without the help of dozens, or hundreds of people. Most of those people were accomplices to multiple felonies. I'm sure there were a few who didn't know what sort of operation they were a part of, but many must have. I don't remember reading about any other arrests other than his. Were there other arrests, and if so, how many? What about his suppliers? The gangs that would sell him slaves, and the human traffickers who smuggled the victims? Did they all get off Scott free?

Newpipe hasn't worked on my Android for several days now. Has YouTube blocked the app, or did an update break it?

He had unlimited resources, and was associated with people who were fashionable and members of high-society, but he himself almost always wore really ugly clothes. Was it a statement of his power, that he didn't need to worry about his appearance, or did he just not give a shit?

I have block bots selected, and I have my language set, yet I frequently see both types of posts which violate those settings. Are there additional changes I can make to see fewer of each type of post?

Edit: this question has been answered now. Thank you to everyone who took the time to help me understand.

the premise that race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings but a socially constructed (culturally invented) category that is used to oppress and exploit people of colour.

Okay... But we can take a DNA test and get our ancestry, telling us what percentage of what races make up our overall ethnicity. So how is race a social construct and not a biological feature, when we have a scientific method to determine our race? This part of the philosophy has been bothering me ever since I read it, and I've been hesitant to ask because of how offensive people get when you question this system.
